Some enchanting days at the cabin with the forest drenched in red and yellow. Most of the leaves have gone now after the 'föhn' (warm wind). I finished the front door, so I can lock both cabins for winter. And was invited for lunch by priest Johannes who made pizzas in his masonry stove and showed me his chapel.

Hello there Martijn... imagine my surprise when I casually stumbled upon your KZbin channel.... given that I almost bought the same property some 18 months ago! My personal circumstances meant that unfortunately I didn't move forwards with it but I am so happy to see how you are putting all your passion into what is such a beautiful project. I also met your Austrian neighbour who gave me some water and offered me his help if I needed it - he's a wondeful guy! I will follow you with enormous curiosity... and, I must admit, with a certain amount of envy!

I get the feeling Martin doesn't respond to comments, which is a shame. Even when given good advice/suggestions. Perhaps he doesn't have time to read them. Some KZbinrs don't even watch KZbin.

@@grahamcurl5026 Hello Graham. In my humble opinion, sometimes no response from the content creator might just be the best course. Unfortunately I’ve seen many well intended comments and suggestions get pulled into contemptuous criticism and become the brunt of brutally course language when the original comment was purely offered as an innocent observation. This channel, and this new series in particular, has some great content. Hopefully the viewers that choose to comment can maintain a level of integrity equivalent to the standards this young gentleman has established. Cheers and Happy Holidays! Whipple

Hi Martijn, Your firewood needs to be either (partially) debarked or split to avoid it getting mouldy and help drying quicker. Splitting it while fresh is the easiest. If it dries out it gets very tough and hard to split with a splitting axe. perfect project ! but man what have you gotten yourself into :-) million appreciations from the south of the Netherlands

Watched it last night.. then #2, now going through your episodes one-by-one. I am very much enjoying this journey of yours… it is very calming and peaceful watching you go through your days, doing what needs to be done… just enough explanation to understand what you are doing, but not a lot of chatter… What a BEAUTIFUL place you have purchased. I worked for a roofing manufacturing company for my first job out of college. Soon thereafter my sister was studying abroad in Switzerland and we took a train from Rome to Zermatt, I remember looking at all of those roofs in awe. The company I was working for made a faux slate product made out of a plastic, and here were these old gorgeous roofs in Europe. The roofs on your buildings are so need as well as the stone work on the outside. I am very looking forward to finding out how you'll repair the roof. By the way, as I watch you figure out how to install the door, etc. I wonder, "Does he ever finish a task like that and cheer for himself? I totally would." Thank you for sharing, as always.

Hey Martijn, still following along your journey from #1. Well done on the color change videography, door carpentry and firewood lumberjacking. I appreciate Fr. Johannes' hermitage, handcrafted chapel and mission. He brings so much thought and beauty to everything he creates. He's the type of priest who understands real life, who you can truly relax around. I hope he gets to keep his hermitage well past the three year mark. It is a wonderful life. Bright blessings, all.
