As a travellor myself, Tanzania & especially Dar es salaam is most safest country in east Africa. Very cool and friendly people though American English is a problem for most of them

I've lived here for 3 years so far and you are right. Tanzanian's are very chilled people. The crime threat is normal stuff when there are plenty of poor people, but in African terms, people call Tanzania "Africa Lite", and Masaki is Tanzania lite. I've married a Tanzanian and used to work in the bush here too, so I have seen all sides of the country.

Sorry, but I was robbed in July when I was walking around my hotel after my working day. A man riding a bike, just grabbed my bag. Nobody helped me.

I learnt pretty fast to book transportation with Uber or Bolt after a Tuk Tuk guy charged me TZS20,000 for a TZS5000 ride haha Dar is my favorite City too.

Yup, they will shoot their shot. I always show them the Uber price (which is low and the driver gets even less) and they’ll usually lower their cost.

When you live here you should try to use trusted bajaj drivers. As the licencing system is loose as hell and the cops give zero shits. Many drivers (especially the local buses) are a menace.

@@toddhellyar4167 yeah that's what locals told me to find trusted ones and stick to them. 👊🏿

@walkonwalkon My local wife has scars from two accidents in bajaj's (tuk tuks). She puts family kids and herself in trusted ones only. When I was working away in smaller places, the first thing she would do is to work out with ones we would use and get their numbers. Then we could trust them to order dinner for them to pick up for us or anything else we wanted, when away from Dar....if you catch my drift....
