Glad to see you back in the video making world! I do disagree with you on the pulling through the shot. This was a method taught to me back in the late 80's when I was learning to shoot a bow. It generates the truest surprise shot, and leads less to target panic(which I have had severe cases of in the past) and punching than any form of controlling the shot. Whether that be punching a trigger or rolling a hinge on command. I have used about every form of release on the market, and have found if you can focus on just pulling, and not moving your fingers at all, it helps focus on execution, and leads less to nerves taking over and forcing a shot to break. I have also found that focusing on a low wrist grip with a lot of emphasis on the "low" pressure causes me to me miss a lot high. I like a lower wrist grip, probably just slightly lower than mid wrist pressure but not excessive to keep the bow from driving up or down at the break of the shot.

What are Dip Bangs
@rcrchery
@rcrchery 2 ай бұрын
It’ll be where you’re aiming well at the middle then, usually, you lose a little bit of tension against the backwall and your sight pin drops and the shot fires at the same time.

Curious to know how much stabilizer weight you have fitted for & aft ? Doesn't appear excessive like some we see that can cause dip/bangs.
@rcrchery
@rcrchery Жыл бұрын
It's not a ton that's for sure. Just what I'd say is normal for the average archer. 8 Upfront on a 30 inch bar and then 12 out back on a 15 inch bar. Keep in mind this bow doesn't tilt back for me bare so I didn't need as much front weight as a Hoyt bow would for example. On a Hoyt I would run 12+ upfront and then possibly 10 out back. But overall weight of the bow is around 8ish pounds I believe.

Also let off makes a difference. With lower let off (65-70), the holding weight to mass weight ratio is higher. With high let off, (85-90), the holding weight to mass weight ratio is lower. With lower let off, the holding force is more horizontal making the archer hold the bow back. With high let off, the holding force is more vertical making the archer hold the bow up. 60 pounds with 90% let off = 06 pounds holding weight. 60 pounds with 85% let off = 09 pounds holding weight. 60 pounds with 80% let off = 12 pounds holding weight. 60 pounds with 75% let off = 15 pounds holding weight. 60 pounds with 70% let off = 18 pounds holding weight. 60 pounds with 65% let off = 21 pounds holding weight.

I need to save this video. It's super helpful. I keep making adjustments and the solution is always more front weight and more holding weight. It's really working at keeping the bow steady.

Question: With a low grip, you mentioned there's a small gap between the web of your hand and the riser. How do you stabilize lft/rt in changing wind direction (ie..headwind changing to lft/rt and back again)?

I'll put a little pressure into the front of the grip with my index to help hold.

Welcome back. A few months back my wife noticed see could she her string cables in her peep while aiming. For a while we didnt know what was going on. We now think it was her hand grip position. Maybe torquing the bow. So now if she sees the cables in her peep she lets down and concentrates on getting a better grip. Maybe some that you could address in a future video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@rcrchery
@rcrchery Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the idea! Sometimes with the new bows and flex cable guards this happens naturally but yes sometimes it can be grip torque for sure.
