Thank you doing this! Jack Dempsey was talking about using small weights and the advantage it had on his power and speed. Bruce Lee used resistance bands for kicks. Fedor was doing empty bench press bar and pushing out as fast as he can. Mayweather is constantly doing the small weights for punches. The small weights and resistance band is proven for working those fast twitch fibers. Thank you for doing this Gabriel. Have you seen other pro fighters from MT and Boxing gyms do other plyometric style exercises for speed and power? Please let us know! Thanks for the tips!

I used to use egg weights but now I love using ankle style weights because you can keep very loose not having to squeeze the hand weight

I have discovered you can do almost all what you need without a trainer or pad holder. Good video.
@guachingman3 жыл бұрын
and the only thing where you absolutely need a partner (sparring) has been questioned lately too
@mmareviewer.23723 жыл бұрын
@@guachingman If you got a good bag and understanding you can get away with a lot until you need to work with other people and a good coach. The truest thing though is that nothing can replace a great sparring partner, and yes, a good coach to give you pointers and the proper training and understanding. Some people have no vision and need guidance every second of their training until they decide it is too much for them, while other people just catch on well and can work more independently than others. If you want to fight you for sure need coach and sparring

I definitely need my pad holder when it's fight camp but I'm doing okay right now on my own.

Just be extra cautious. If you train on your own, you might drill in bad technique. Its easier to see somebody elses mistakes from the outside, than doing the exercises and check yourself

How do you feel about the focus ball for speed? (Tennis ball on elastic attached to a head band)
@checkitoutguys13 жыл бұрын
buy a good quality one. I bought one that's mid-tier and it's shite. The ball itself is good you can't destroy it easily but the string/elastic is a pain for the eyes. Literally. Got eye poked by a fucken string three times and it kinda demotivated me to use it for anything more than fun. HOWEVER, it definitely increased my straights' accuracy and my reflexes a lot.

The thing about improvement if it's very slow going. You can send a year working and working and not feel like you are getting any better. But you actually are. It's just hard to tell and then one day something clicks and you realize your progress. Don't get discouraged. If you enjoy training keep it up.
