I can see how you would come to those conclusions about my experience. I"m a short story writer/photographer as a side gig so perhaps that's why the attention to detail makes it sound unbelievable and "fantasy". Trust me, it was all unbelievable to me. I assure you on my Mother's grave it happened as it did. However, as a writer one takes experiences and the facts and turns it into a word count game as most publishers want x amount of words per entry. It's what makes the story. Most writers use attention to detail and off comments as fillers and it just becomes habit with all of our writing. As for the ego/superhero representation, that was for the story and having listened to it out loud it did sound pathetic but yeah, the bouncers said what they said and patted me on the shoulder as we left. If you knew me as a person you wouldn't think that of me in the least. I"m actually a humble guy. I just wrote it and didn't give any thought to how it would make me appear as a person. Either way, Happy journey's to ya.

Thanks Kevin, actually the first book due to be released in paperback and Kindle is non audible as it is quite complicated to set that up so it will be a read only version however, if the book does well in the future, then audio is the way I would like to move forward for volume 2.

I don't understand the complaints about the female contributor's story being boring. I found it interesting and insightful though perhaps for different reasons. She seemed very judgemental and *exactly* the type of western woman that guys like me (us) go to Thailand to escape from. I've worked with people like her. We probably all have. She sounded like someone I would go out of my way to avoid. The woman's story this week was fantastic. For the first time ever I started the video again and listened to it twice. She sounded really nice and I could fully understand the age gap worries and culture and distance concerns. As a western, conservative and (mostly) straight middle-aged guy I could not relate at all to the girl/girl aspect but the long distance relationship and waiting to meet part had me hooked. That was one of your great stories. On par with the biggest train wreck stories you've told. The woman has had a great time and met this nice Thai girl but the hard part will be what now? She's got a great career and can't exactly drop everything and move to Thailand. That final story with the bloke who used to manage exotic dancers in the US was also excellent. That's a smart fella. I was nodding my head to everything you read regarding his pre-trip research and precautions while there. He is the gold standard of the type of research and precautions guys should aim for to prepare for a Thailand trip and avoid trouble. Also, much respect to you and how you do these stories justice. In particular for your ironclad rule of protecting the anonymity of contributors and never sharing pictures sent to you in confidence (even when it would be tempting to do so for a few cheap, easy clicks).

The lady who submitted the story is actually very nice she's not judgemental at all and has a very good sense of humour it's very difficult to gauge somebody's personality from a story I guess

Glad you liked it. I could understand why some people would think it was a fantasy fabrication as even to me the entire night didn't make any sense as I knew nothing in Thailand was free. It was a surreal experience I knew few people would believe. As a short story writer/photographer in the first place for side gigs I, like others, are in the habit of going into great detail which may be reason for some people thinking it was BS. I understand............and yeah, I thought the entire night she just returned from the bar from another man's company and probably had sponsors and was well taken care of. Hey everyone, I"m the writer of the last story. I don't know why I feel as if I have to explain to the group but some of the comments reflect their disbelief in my experience. Trust me, I understand how you would think that as I was truly in disbelief with what had transpired that night. I get it. I assure you it played out as it did. That said, I am a writer of short stories and travel/photographer pieces where word counts are important. As a habit many writers do over emphasize details in a descriptive manner not only to add to the story and "paint a picture" but to build the word count. I could have told my story in 1/4 of the words but that would have sounded flat and boring. Writers get in the habit of doing that with everything we write because in my case I was always short on words. The great detail makes it sound contrived as fantasy as it reads like a book. Upon hearing this being read, I"m embarrassed as I did come across as an ego maniac with the way I chose the words to events that transpired at the bar. Yup, I didn't quite word things right for the first quick draft. I just chalk my experience up as pure beginners dumb luck. I wish for everyone to have the same experience and tell their story. Few would believe it either and you will understand why as we all know nothing in Thailand is free. And yeah, she must have had some sponsors or just got back from being with another guy and probably just wanted to have some fun as at the bar we were having a genuine good time. It's the only thing that makes sense the entire night. Oh, and we shared suds in the shower but nothing more. That wasn't a part of any deal because there wasn't one. It all just organically played out as it did. Cheers.

Partner, I wouldn't be to concerned about what anyone says about your adventure. I have had similar experiences in both Philippines and Thailand. Not quite as memorable as yours but along the line of your adventures. The thing that amazed my first trip to Philippines was at 53 and my first trip to Thailand was 66 so you have to know it wasn't because of good luck.

Yeah Wes. I was genuinely paranoid throughout the night as I had read stories about things happening to guys prior to me leaving on the trip and heck, this was my first night in BKK. It all didn't make any sense to me as I knew nothing in Thailand was free. Sadly, people don't believe the story and I don't blame them because none of it made any sense to me either. I am a travel writer/photographer as a hobby so perhaps my attention to detail one would expect from a book might have thrown people off........I get it. Liam Harding : Hi Liam, an old saying goes, “You can please some of the people some of the time but you can’t please all of the people all of the time” Any story that is submitted to my channel will be read out as the story submitter has taken the trouble to write the story and send it in. It is up to the individual viewer whether they wish to listen to the story or not. I have 35K+ subs, I am not going to stop reading out girls submitted stories just because a few guys don’t like them.
