That tire drill brushing is still the silliest thing I've ever seen.
@smileyjones1742
@smileyjones1742 4 жыл бұрын
Why bro
@gjo323x
@gjo323x 4 жыл бұрын
@@smileyjones1742 Because it doesn't save any time at all compared to taking 30 seconds to manually brush a tire. Watch carefully where the dumb drill brush is going and you see he clearly misses like 30% or more of the tire with it. It's not some magic time saver where if you cared what you were doing you would still have to go back with a brush to scrub the bottom of the tire because the drill brush can't really reach it.
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
@@gjo323x Really where I like to use a drill brush is on heavily treaded tires. I would make a strong argument that a medium stiffness drill brush will detail out the tread MUCH faster than a manual approach. The reason I do not worry about brushing out the inner sidewall is simply because the pressure washer will take care of it

Hey Luke, I love your videos! Quick question though -- I noticed that you dont talk a lot about the underbody of any of your muddy vehicle details. I was hoping to coat the underbody (frame, driveline, pumpkins, etc.) with some sort of protective to help prevent coroding (I take my truck off road often). Do you have any suggestions? Or if possible maybe do an underbody detail video? Thanks for the great videos!

This generation of Wranglers are notorious for clear coat failure. Mine has it. Also, you can take the front grill off super easily to access the headlights! It’s just a few plastic clips at the top and bottom corners of the grill. Takes 30 seconds.

Nice work Luke however your video may have had more benefit to those new to the industry (you often mention them), if you had shown them how to tell if the clear coat is degraded. This would have facilitated them being able to decide what products to use, how much time the job would take and thus pricing which seem to be some of their most frequently asked questions. Perhaps that was beyond the scope of the video, but then a mention and link to an alternate video could really help. Keep working hard :)

Luke, was not giving it a pre-rinse on the body deliberate to avoid more flaking? I highly agree with the Dean method using ONR. It's my #1 go-to in So. Cal. with the heat, plus it leaves an initial coat of wax. Today its 100 degrees-ouch! What age of the vehicle do you use for determining whether to use either Solution Finish vs. Trim Serum? Also, would have been nice to see the finished vehicle. I didn't add it up before, but just by using Solution Finish for the trim and Cerakote Headlite Restoration for the headlights, that bites into your $175 minus $52...Ouch!!! Whether a new or old customer, you've put your good foot forward and likely they will call you back or refer you!
@christopheboswel3199
@christopheboswel3199 4 жыл бұрын
Why minus 52, because Solution Finish is a full bottle which last, but i agree with Cerakote kit, but again its still $24,95 on amazon, and even $44,91 if you get a 2 pack. I think Luke is more concerned by efficiency and the time he is spending on a service, because of getting several vehicule to do in a day, time is money also :) Sometime you spend little more $ to get faster in a process allowing you to cut off time processing :)

I know... sometimes I get going quickly and leave the garage without taking final video shots! BUMMER! Yes I was deliberately avoiding the pre rinse because of the. paint condition, and full disclosure: Because I get the Cerakote kits for free (perks of making videos) it didn't eat into my margin :D KZbin comes with its advantages hahaha

Great video and information. While you put Solution Finish on the bumpers and fenders, did you also use it on the removable top (it looks like the same vinyl/plastic)?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
So the top is actually a different material that doesn't exactly absorb products like solution finish as well, and without doing it well with the right product, it's sometimes easy to get a really non uniform appearance. That being said, in this case the top actually wasn't in bad condition

I’m confused tho after you wash the jeep and restore the plastics you don’t put anything on the paint??
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
In this case the ONR wash will leave a very small layer of wax behind. Point being, because the paint is degrading to such a degree, there are few places left where you can put something like a wax and it still cure correctly

Wilson amazing detail job bro! Can you explain plz what's the difference between a solution finish restore and a ceramic coat for plastics? What is preferable?
@DojiKing
@DojiKing 4 жыл бұрын
Solution finish basically restore the black plastic by dying it partly. It brings back the nice dark color. Ceramic coat is more a protective coating to make sure it don’t fade or get damaged. Some ceramic coats like ceratrim do both it restore the color and protects it from future fading and damage. Ceratrim is extremely glossy so it don’t look well with all paint colors. To get a nice matte finish I would go with solution finish to restore it and a nice ceramic coating on top on it to protect it. Go to a junk yard and pull an old plastic fender off and experiment on what restorer and ceramic coat combo give the best matte finish for your liking. If it a black vehicle the ceratrim looks amazing but on a white not so much cause of the glossy finish of it.

Optimum clear coat restorer take 3? I would love to see it
@rheijne95
@rheijne95 4 жыл бұрын
This goes beyond the 'capabilities' of Optimum Clear Coat Restorer, since there's parts without clear coat. What I believe; You need to see Clear Coat Restorer as a new way of refining your clear coat. So instead of 'grinding' away the washing induced marring on the car by removing part of the clear coat, you replentish the clear coat.

Hey man, great questions. My first reaction to something like this is this: This is one of the reasons I don’t teach people to build an auto detailing business with super low prices. You end up attracting people who just aren’t the best. That being said, push through and keep honing your skills. In the beginning, over delivering to build a strong word of mouth reputation is playing the long game
