Gradus ad Parnassum roughly translates oo steps I the top or perhaps "Stairway to the stars"

@@pianopeter Yes he was paid well. I tried to apply the Golden Rule. They deserve good pay when they especially had skills and a good personality. Hahaha. Thanks for the tips on Jazz.

Adam Maness recommends reading the 160 page book, "The Study of Counterpoint: From Johann Joseph Fux's Gradus Ad Parnassum". Additionally, there is an EXCELLENT summary of that book on the web that I highly recommend: decipheringmusictheory.com/?page_id=284
