I don't know if this is a true story or not. However, as a retired police officer, I can tell you that situations like this do happen. Many, many, police officers risk their lives to save others in scary situations. Situations like this (and worse) DO happen. I can only hope that those who read this listen to these words, and mine, particularly when they watch videos that are made to portray police officers in the worst light possible. There are a few bad apples, but most officers, like me, would lay down their lives to protect others. Please remember this.

As a former police officer in a large city, I know your words are true. Many of these anti-police stories and videos betray their creator's ignorance of law and safety procedures where the officer actually did nothing wrong. A minority of them are true and may justice be served on those who abuse their authority. People seldom hear about the helpful and compassionate, dangerous and self-sacrificing actions police take every day.

These stories are so commonplace yet far too frequent. I will be forever grateful I got out of my rotten "marriage" while I had a chance. Although we had no human children, we did have two dogs. I do know for a fact that he was abusive to them both, so one day I left work early, went home and scooped up both of the dogs and all items pertaining to them, and took them to my parents for safekeeping. The next time I saw my ex, he nearly clobbered me, but I slammed the bathroom door on him just in time. He had pushed all the right buttons in me; on Christmas Eve I got the restraining order, with my mom, and contacted the police as instructed.they arrived, 😢and gave him ten minutes to get his crap out of the house. From then on I called the shots, everything went my way, and he was too scared to argue. I never saw him again, thank God! I eventually moved to another state, and I'm fine. I'm very happy for this mom and her little boy for being able to get out safely! Everyone else should take heed and get out ASAP or you will quite possibly be "terminated"! If I had not done things the way I did, I would have been terminated, or at the very least been left with a permanent traumatic brain injury.
