Love your locs! Great journey so far. Happy Lockaversary!! You are right about lint. It was created to sabatoge locks for those who are oblivious. I couldn't imagine retightening myself.

Congratulations on making four years with this set!! I Love your Sisterlocks they are very full and long. Very nice and healthy. Thanks for everything that you've shared. As for the water only washing, how often were you having to wash it? Also you really Can't see the frizz from where I"m sitting! lol. So question. I love oils and during my first lock journey I think I used too much too soon and ended with lint and buildup in the nape early on. So I took them down. This time I am getting sisterlocks and I'm curious how long do you wait before adding oils to the scalp, and then the locks themselves? Sounds like you only add it to your scalp even on 4 year old locks.
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
Chan H. Thanks! I started washing my hair daily when I water only washed, then cut back to weekly after about 2 months. Daily was too much for the LOCS to handle but would have been great for my loose nature hair. As for the oils, you're right, I now focus more on the scalp when I use it. Strangely, my hair doesn't need it as much as it did before so I only use jojoba oil when my scalp feels dry (which is rare). I started using oil about the same time I started retightening my own hair about 6-7 months in. Oil attract lint so be ready to deal with that issue if you chose to use oil in your hair. Honestly you may never need to if you consistently drink the recommended daily intake of water for your weight and spritz your hair with distilled water when it feels dry. We tend to under estimate the power of pure water and the need to focus on health to get the perfect LOCS. Having Sisterlocks make the journey so easy that we make it complicated. Stay calm and enjoy your ride! If you chose to use oil, only use a light oil that penetrates the hair shaft. 😊
@godsflame28 жыл бұрын
Wow, Okay! lol. I will definitely up my water intake.. I need to set my mind on nothing but distilled water spritzes on my hair for 6 to 7 months. And the Sister lock shampoo lol. I know jojoba is the best since its the closest to real sebum So I will definitely choose to use that one when its time. I can't see not putting any oil on them for the life of them? I can't stand dry scratchy locks : \

Hi PW, I love your hair and your videos. I was wondering how your "MSM, rosemary and willow bark" DIY spray turned out.
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
Serita Taylor Hi Serita! It was good except the msm leaves a white haze in my hair after a week of daily use. Leave out msm and it should be fine. The willow bark helps make it the perfect pH balance. It still good as a facial moisturizer with msm. Thanks!

i am just amazed at how thick and long your hair is in just 4 years! I guess we can attribute a lot of that to good diet, but on average, how much (in inches) does your hair grow in each year?
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
Jess I try to eat right. I just converted to a pescatarian diet (fish/vege) about 3 months ago. Prior to that, it was the biblical dietary laws. My hair grows about 6 inches/year, which is the average. Thanks!

how old was your locks when you first started using oil. ?
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
barbara mathis I'm not sure but I think around 8 months. I only use light oils like cameilla and jojoba. Argan oil is a good hair oil for moisture retention but will soften LOCS. I couldn't use it. Jojoba oil is the best for dry scalp.

thanks for sharing! How are you edges? Did you ever had any issues with those locks around the edges unlocking?
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
Karasi Adjoa Hi! My edges have been thinner than I desire for some time now. However, my locs around the edges are fine/the same as they were in the beginning. I have not lost any locs.

Karasi Adjoa And no they have not come loose during this SL journey.
@no2cheese8 жыл бұрын
Ok, thanks. I on the other hand continue to struggle with maintaining the locks at the front of my head, they always become loose. I guess one day they will become fed-up like me and surrender to the retightening lol
@NatureCoilsbyPW8 жыл бұрын
Karasi Adjoa It did happen during my first sisterlock journey. It took a while for them to stay loc'd. Are you still banding them together when you wash your hair? How long have you had your sisterlocks? Do you have a looser curl pattern? Give it time, they will eventually comply. Consistently using henna altered my hair and caused it to look and act different during my second journey.
@no2cheese8 жыл бұрын
ok thanks! I have been loc'd for 2 years and 10 months, and no i am no longer banding my locks when i wash my hair. I do have a looser curl pattern around the edges of my hair. I am waiting patiently for them to comply. You mentioned "henna", is this product 100 plant-based? I have never dyed my locks, but i want to; however, i am terrified of the side-effects of the chemical-based dyes. What has been your experience with henna?
