@@andriidemko I think they're better in every way. Styling, mechanically and simply awesome to look at. BMWs and the other Germans are rather boring, and you see one at every stop light. Plus Alfa's reliably has improved greatly. One other thing. Alfa were not among the top 10 in the world's most traded cars in the first year of ownership. It was the Germans and Nissan. Don't listen to people when they say Alfas aren't reliable. Fiat wasn't even that top 10 list.

@charlesclement383 There's a reason you see more BMW'S and Mercs than Alfas. People prefer them and buy them over 10x more often. After owning an M3 and a Gulia I can easily claim that reliability is equal. But the ergonomics and performance of the M3 are vastly superior from BMW. Especially Xdrive cars that launch like bullets. Not to mention the price for the performance also skews to the Germans. I have to say that ferrari derived engine sounds amazing though.

One of the things that sold me on the Giulia was how well it handles. It is great that the car has double wishbone suspension. Some reviewers said the car was a bit twitchy but it really can be a good thing when quickly turning in.

Totally agree with you, now most of the cars, not including supercars that I drive has too soft of steering and I don’t like it. I think it’s one on the biggest selling points. As well as suspension. Shop rates are very high in the SF Bay Area because everything is expensive, land, buildings, rent, utilities, insurance, labor - all of which is reflected in the shop rate. The local dealer is Maserati and Alfa Romeo so you're paying the $300 per hour Maserati rate. There's one mechanic certified / trained for the QV. Probably an extra wait if he takes 2 weeks vacation. I'm not looking forward to replacement of the serpentine belt. Replacement of the actual belt and tensioner is not bad. It's the removal and putting back of all the parts to get to the belt. You need to empty coolant, pump out the A/C, etc. and lots of parts removed to access the belt. The design is optimized for ultimate performance. Ease of maintenance is a secondary if not a tertiary consideration. Love the car. It is special. Also it can be very under the radar around non-car people. A white QV could pass for a white Camry Sport although the QV has a much more pronounced rear diffuser. BTW the oil service is easy to do. The price of the oil filter is a bit shocking. Is it a very special filter? Perhaps it is really a Ferrari filter.
@andriidemko
@andriidemko 11 ай бұрын
@@larrychew1 true that in the Bay Area everything is more expensive but it still shouldn't cost $1k, my friend, who is a certified alfa mechanic, says his dealer is charging $250 for qv oil change on the Bay Area. that's a bit low, need to see if that's true. but $500 is okay to pay. yes you can do an oil change yourself, I just wanted to have all the paperwork in case of warranty repairs, I have all the proof that only alfa officials touched the car. So, if something goes wrong, and most likely it will, I have all the paperwork. that was my only reasoning.

Well, if you do oil change yourself it would cost close to nothing, right but I’m just sharing what official dealers quoted me and what i paid for. I have an alfa mechanic who would charge most likely as you said $400 but it wouldn’t be an official dealer. About depreciation, it’s one thing what you want to sell you car for vs how much it would be sold for. 40k+ miles would be considered as a high mileage quad. Even when it comes with extended warranty. So the price is determined not by how much you think it’s worth but how much peps really are willing to give you

@@andriidemko so many questions! Curious about tires, thinking of changing over to PS4s for summer and then a dedicated snow tire for winter (I’m in Canada). Also curious about the power and RWD in reduced traction situations. Coming from a ‘23 Q4 Estrema which has been pretty great.

@@AP-cc1uw check the video about tires on the channel. basically if you don't track or track a few times PS4 is good. I'm not a good resource for winter only tires, but Continental DWS worked pretty good in winter in Philadelphia where I lived when bought the car. Use A mode and you will be fine, it won't spin. On Pzero in winter the car will be undrivable in Race mode and D. N will work sometimes and A would work as it calculates the amount of traction you have and gives you just enough to go through. But even on Continental DWS I never had any problems but I didn't go off reading either :)

If you have 32 miles a gallon you multiply it with 1.6 to get km wich translates into 51,2 km a gallon and devide it by 3,786 and you get about 13,5 km a liter! That actually is very good on the highway! Also the dealers in the USA charge way to much. Those numbers are crazy. 1000 dollar oilchange? That is criminal. Should not cost more then 150 to 200 max with the best oils. And if you do it yourselve under 100$. So you know the dealer rips you of. In Europe we don't have the parts issues so here it's easier to get parts if needed.
@andriidemko

That was the perfect condition. Pretty much translated to 7.35 liter per 100 kilometers. Usual driving would be something like 12l/100km A lot of things are super crazy in the US and that definitely one of them. Usually an oil change could be around $400. The problem of doing it yourself is that, when you would have a warranty claim, and they would know you did something to the car yourself, they can cancel your warranty on that part. Not a 100% rule, but I know that happened. I should def move to Italy one day and stop dealing with all this nonsense one day 🚀

@@AndrewL31413 if I were you this is what I would do: 1. I would buy a used one with like 25-30k kilometers. Why? Alfa will depreciate as hell in the first, second year and with these miles. So you would still be under warranty and if something goes wrong, just sell the car. 2. I would buy a 2020+ model year as they have less issues than earlier models. Not my words, words of my mechanic who is Alfa certified and only works on them. Earlier models had issues with engines. Then they fix them. Don’t remember which exact issues but that’s a fact. 3. If decide to keep the car always have warranty if out of original warranty buy an extended one. You never know when this can go wrong. 4. Absolutely buy an Alfa because later in your life you would regret bot owning one. I don’t regret buying the car. I may move to other brands but not I know how it should feel and behave.
