Whomever took that order for 40 burritos and didn't a) give you advanced notice and/or b) help you out should be in big trouble. At the very least they could have prepped everything for you - chop up the sausage and bacon, crack all the eggs etc. 40 burritos in 25 minutes is 100% unreasonable even if everything was prepped for you. All that being said, you handled it SO well and did an amazing job.

If I came in for my shift and found out I had a to-go order of 40 burritos ordered yesterday afternoon, I'd be overwhelmed too. Someone could have texted you so you would have known or come in early to prep for it. And, someone could have helped you prep for it. I'm sure the restaurant made a pretty penny on this order. You have no reason to apologize. You're a great cook and kicked ass on this order. Very impressed!!!!

So you have never worked in a kitchen then? The same order in large numbers is *_MUCH_* easier than having as many covers ordering different meals with starters and sides, try serving for 40-50 tables that's more like 200 meals and most expect to be eating their main within 20 minutes and leaving within an hour of walking in, then the table gets reset and you go again for 12 hours or more. This guy is crying over nothing. This is a steady start to the day.

Not to mention disrespectful and unprofessional. Unless your boss or your coworker is actively teaching you something or training you in some aspect of your work, I absolutely have no patience for helicopter people -- because I have yet to encounter a company I've worked for where the management had anything to do but sit around and critise others. You can always roll up your sleeves and help out, and if you can't - then maybe find something to do that doesn't involve leering at people who actually have a purpose and tasks.

I just your video! Way back since the 1970s Hubby and I have had many Fast Food places. Yes every business we started with just egg & cheese burritos. As the years passed the breakfast burritos grew to having all the breakfast goodies inside. We many many times had super large orders. We even had local school lunch orders. Oh now I realized how much I miss the industry. We are both retired now. But the idea of opening another fast food, we finally realized we can't do it anymore. Working pre-opening to closing 7 days a week. The only days off were the 5 main holidays of the year. I met my Hubby when he started working for a local Greek burger stand that I would stop at after my college classes. I told my Mom I saw the man In was going to marry there. April make 50 years married. 51 years together. Your kitchen set-up is just perfect. Oh what good memories seeing this. Thank you!

If he would have had his food preply, he could have got all that done in 35 minutes. 40 tops. I've worked in kitchens since I was old enough to work and been in the kitchen since I was six. I'm not saying he's a bad cook, just not experienced. Case in point. If the bacon was par-cooked, The bacon should have gone down a minute or two before the burrito construction. If not, the hash brown should have went down with the bacon. All experience cooks know that hash browns and bacon usually take around the same amount of time. He would have prepped all his eggs and had them separated into the batches he was going to cook them in. And most restaurants would have kicked those burritos back the second they saw those brown eggs. Overcooked eggs is a no-no unless it's specifically requested. 20 minutes is ridiculous. 30 to 40 minutes is very reasonable and easily accomplished by a professional.

@@CocineroMX this really sucks man... I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even sound grateful, and were grumpy cause they had to wait ... most folks just think about themselves, world would be a better place if we took more notice of what is happening around us and empathize with our fellow people. Whoever took the order the day before, effed up big time not telling you - not your fault. Once again - you did great, you can be proud of your work and take strength that most folks on your channel are with you and support you. Have a great day man!

It is so nice to see how clean the this cook is. I watched another cook out of Italy who has no sink and used wipes to clean his hands. That’s fine but this other cook touched his phone, touched raw oysters and no change of his gloves. Now to this cook. This cook changes his glove or gloves every single time it is required. Also constant washing of his hands. You can also see he is cognizant of what glove on what hand needs to be replaced, which shows he also cares about not wasting gloves they don’t need to be discarded.

I think it's greedy and inconsiderate when restaurant owners/operators let people place catering-sized orders out of nowhere like that. You're short order cook, not a fucking catering chef with a kitchen full of prep cooks and other staff. If they want to serve catering-sized orders, they should own a fucking catering business.

Orders like that don't happen often, but even McDonald's get them as well especially if you live near a casino or get a bus load of high school/college kids. I used to work for a few different McDonald's as their grill cook and I once had an order for 22 McChicken, 12 cheeseburgers, and 4 big Mac's. It was me just me working that day and I got it done in 20 minutes. If you know your station well enough you'd be surprised at what one person can do.

Great video. Here's a possible suggestion for efficiency: Have a rolling cart next to you so you can put the burritos on it, then when they are ready to wrap have another worker roll the cart out of your way and do all the cutting and wrapping for you. This way you can save time and effort and get to the next orders.

You rock!!!!! If they would've let you know the night before, you could've had help. I use to be a restaurant manager and what pissed me off was when 25 people from AMWAY would come in at 10:45 pm and we closed at 11 and it was just me, a dish washer and one cook and they all would order. I finally told them after a few months one night, that if they didn't call the day before, I was going to refuse service to them. Not only that, they would hold their meetings and screw around and on those nights, I wasn't out of there until after 1AM. People can be so rude.
