"J" you are the best so far on KZbin and teaching the rudiments! I'm a beginner @ 72 years old since 1962! and have been beating on everything related to Rock and Roll and Salsa on my Bongos! THANKS! I am now the proud owner of a $50.00 snare! Wish me luck!

I've been playing for 20-plus years self-taught. I plateaued and then Never got any better. So now I'm going back and learning basics. This was very helpful. Thank you!

I like how you timed this out. Go through your rudiment workshop here 4 times and a person could get in an hour a day on the 40 rudiments and then move on to another area of study.

Hey drummers!! Its good to understand these things and if you practise that more tools you get to work, but please don`t forget, its on the road...its in your daily experience on the road, how to get a sound, rehearsing with bands seriuslly, doing shows, and then back to road again if its posible, technique is just a tool, metronome is a friend, record things, learn with mistakes and keep believing...be open mind, understanting a lot of music will hellp us to find our personality and that`s the point...the most taugh one, our sound, our personality, our band, if you don`t get a lot of tecniques doesn`t matter, write songs, songs change the world, not techniques, songs touch the hearts, the girls or boys love it!! How to show your music, how to express, be creative, remember...tecnique is just a tool, develop the taste, lot of rehearsals playing what you love, dont do drugs, drink beer, smoke weed pots, respect others, love animals, absorve new values... Go to the Venus project.com and enjoy!! Cheers friends!! im not english so sorry my bad poetry...

Most of these are much more fun to practice as the Rudimental Ritual with an ostinato. Doubt if there's much press roll exercises in the piece.

went thru high school and college band. just needed basic notes written on the sheet music. i.e. 1812 overture, etc. no need for a hundred rudiments. just a roll and paradidle. good to practice though

try keeping your fingers on the sticks at all times, allows for more control over the slower more delicate rudiments.

Nice. The double strokes though start out straight then, when the speed increases a little, the left hand bunches up and they come out swinging. It doesn't appear intentional and isn't noted so it's worth being aware of the difference if learning from this - it makes a world of difference to the music, that feeling of 'insistance' particularly seems compromised by irregularity between the hands like that. - Something I've recently discovered for myself after realising my left hand was swinging everything unintentionally.

Nice video. I guess I'm old. Wait - I know I'm old. In the late 60s , we learned only 26 rudiments and used the traditional grip. I'm using it in my avatar from 1972. I do see the relevance of the 14 others though.
