Let's rock this shoulder and abs workout! I am using 8 lb and 10 lb dumbbells today but as always grab a set of weights that suit you! For everyone who has ever told me that abs on the floor are uncomfortable, hurt your neck, hurt your back, hurt your tailbone, etc., this workout is for you! I am keeping you standing the entire workout today with non-stop shoulder work and ab work! I really want you to focus on the contraction of your abs today as you crunch, twist, and rotate you abs. We will target the rectus abdominis, the external obliques, and the transverse abdominis so get ready to really crunch it! Your shoulders are going to be feeling it and I am using lighter weight than I would if I were simply mixing shoulder exercises into a workout because our shoulders will be working the entire workout! Let's do this!

This was a great workout! I was surprised how much I felt it in my abs, and my shoulders were definitely worked to exhaustion. It's been awhile since I've seen you do one of these types of workouts. Would love to see you bring it back!

I had originally skipped past this workout while searching, but I returned to it and I'm so glad I did! I hate ab exercises on the floor because I have lower back issues and so many floor exercises aren't possible for me, so it's great to have a standing abs routine!

Thanks for demonstrating the exercise before going into the set! I get more reps in that way. I have struggled lately with the shorter rest periods. Getting water and back to proper form as been a challenge. But i am so encouraged by you every day to keep going and to take care of every part of myself. Thanks, lady!

Oh, I enjoyed this standing abs routine! I have to use a thin pillow for floor abs because of my tailbone. This was a nice change and it was great to work the shoulders with the core. Great routine!

I think that was the best standing abs workout I've done. My right side tends to take over all the time and I was able to really focus on getting the left side to do the work with this one. Thank you!!!

Another great workout. I tried to go to 8 lbs in first set but felt 5lb would do just fine. Until the last set last reps did bump it up again. These moves require you to pay attention to your form, so I like to think your brain gets a workout also.

I almost skipped this because my shoulders were already so sore (I did an extra kickboxing workout on Sunday). So glad I showed up and gave it my best. And so glad we stretched traps-I’d love that incorporates more into stretches/cool downs. I also have a question-how do we work on a side that’s weaker to strengthen it/balance out the two sides?

I am so glad you finished it and rocked it! We all have a side that is a bit weaker (or in some cases significantly weaker) than the other side. My advice is not to drop the weight for the weaker side but just challenge it to keep up with your stronger side. Be patient with this process as it will take some time but modifying on your weaker side will only maintain or increase the severity of the muscular imbalance. Unilateral exercises like one sided lateral raises will help you focus on the weaker side and really challenge that side to get stronger!

😎 If I may comment on your question you had for Sydney❣️ I had a weaker side, it was my right arm. I noticed when I would lift my 5 pound weights - which of course that was way back in the beginning of the Stone age HAHAHA LOL🤣... I was truly struggling with my right shoulder for some reason it wouldn't respond like my left which was odd. After trying different methods of therapy nothing really seemed to work, until I took and paused during the side arm raises, there was the problem I was engaging both arms muscles incorporating them in the proper way. We tend to weaken after a long period of time of working out a certain muscle group. Hopefully this will help in some way, I just thought to share my experience with you since you are in need of a solution, it worked for me it might just as well for you ✌️

I just love your workouts. Ever since I found you in January, I haven't gone to any other online trainer and bought 5kg weights to challenge myself from previously only having 3 kg weights. Now trying to figure out how I'm going to lift my kids with these sore muscles. :) Thanks again.

Thank you for the fantastic workout. I do struggle with my shoulders..have had issues with my neck mobility for quite some time and had a rotator cuff issue a few years back that never seemed to mend. Mind you I also had a 2 yr battle with breast cancer (clear for 7 yrs now) and my surgeries were on my right side so I'm wondering if my weakness could be part of that. I do have a bit of lymphodema but nothing too bad in my opinion...so I don't look forward to the shoulder exercises but I'm determined to eventually strengthen them (I'm 58 yrs old) and maybe can do a pull up at the Rugged Maniac LOL...

Great job Susan!! Shoulder exercises can be done on the floor but if you are feeling neck pain you are more than likely using your traps too much instead of just your shoulder muscles. Try keeping your shoulders down during shoulder work instead of elevating them with your traps! You are so welcome girl, have an amazing day!

Loved the standing abs! Sometimes seated ab work rubs my tailbone raw, so this was really helpful. The ab stuff was also a nice distraction from my burning shoulders, haha :D

I’ve had better standing ab workouts, but still felt it a little bit. My shoulders are warm but probably still could have gone up in weight. Next time I’ll push myself! 👍🙌
