@numinous47896 жыл бұрын
It's basically a bigger Ford version of the 2JZ.
@nordic54906 жыл бұрын
Numinois, pretty much. I own one, running 24psi on e85, is my daily drive, and about 450rwkw (metric here in Oz). 4L vs the 2jz 3L, but the barra is a long stroke design, and makes huuuuge torque down low and in the midrange, so is a much better driver on the streets than a 2jz. And a factory barra block and head can make more than 2000hp, no billet 2jz needed here.
@numinous47896 жыл бұрын
Nor Dic Nor Dic Cool deal. Yeah, they stroke 2J's up to ~3.4 liters, IIRC, so it gets it closer to 4.0, but not there. Gotta also bear in mind that longer stroke engines sacrifice higher revs by design in terms of the stresses you put on the engine, particularly the rods/rod fasteners/rod angle. Like anything else in the automotive world, it's a give or take - higher rpms with shorter stroke (bike engines and F1 exemplify this) or more torque down low without the rev-out potential. Certainly, things like very high strength fasteners can be used too, but you gotta pay to play, and once you get into true-blue racing parts, DD'ing really goes out the window. Sounds like you have a fun ride, and I definitely respect the Barra. IMHO, however, it'll never be as iconic as the 2JZ.
