Robert of Gruenig and Elmiger (can't link, YT rules, Google is your friend) takes us through a detail strip of a Swiss Army SIG 510 / Sturmgewehr 57 in 7.5x55 GP11, and then gets it competition ready with a Dobler Mantelrohr (barrel shroud), new match barrel, and match sights! Thanks, Robert! It was a real privilege to see an expert at work!

I'm Australian, love Canada and Canadians (lived in Toronto for 6 months, managed to avoid taking a position regarding hockey!). It must get really annoying when basically the instant anyone admits to being Canadian, some American feels the need to flop their cock out and start waving it around, usually despite being a basement dweller. Not every country measures itself by the damage it could do to others, ok America? You guys are cool too, I just get a little tired of all the waving cocks.

Almost everyone in Switzerland does very well in English. Learning German was hard because as soon as you struggle people want to switch to English for you. There were a couple points where he had to look for words, but because he and Bloke also both speak firearms fluently he was able to provide them as a smooth part of the conversation. The whole thing was quite impressive.

Drink every time he says "It really helps to clean the gun from time to time." Something in the way he says it has that long year professional service personal sigh in it, preaching the same and people won't listen while it remedies most problems. I'm glad I saved this video a few days to really enjoy it at the right time. Outstanding work on the cam, always showing the details and bombarding with the right questions and Robert did an outstanding job explaining everything, showing damaged parts. There is probably no better video on this gun. Robert at 1:13:15 **reads subtitles** The same to my ears as well.

Was really a joy watching Robert go through this. Me, never having seen one other than in Ian's (ForgottenWeapons) video, would always have ass-umed they were indeed over-complicated and fragile, hard to work on and so on. Him just reassembling the whole roller-assembly within a couple seconds (46:45 on), basically with hands and flat-bladed screwdriver (optional), puts it all into perspective - when you know what you're doing, they seem to be quite easy to maintain and actually cleverly laid out.

@@papajon6715 nah, it's not like that in Ireland today. You have to remember that in the 1970s we had the Dessie O'Malley orchestrated Great Gun Theft which led to 30k to 40k guns being stolen by the State. Then in 2009 with the change to 3yr licences, 10s of thousands of old guns were destroyed. Most Irish people believe Hollywood or the British animal rights groups when it comes to guns or hunting.

in a small neighborhood in OKC a recently widowed woman brought in her deceased husbands "ugly" guns to the police chief cause she didn't know where else to go. One of them was a new pe-57. my dad took a pic with it so he could show me after it got developed a few days later, I was in high school so around 1998-99. The chief obviously took it home and despite me asking about it for over 20 years I can't get him to mention it, let alone sell it to me, but this started my fondness of Swiss arms.

And Yes, those stgw 57 in the Ordonanz 03 configurations are real divas but if you have a good one and treat it right - she might be good for 98+ results on 300m. If she is in the mood....

@@ApurtureSci Ah but that’s a supply and demand reason, which applies here too with full auto stuff. Not many people can/know they can/want to own full auto hence a lot of them are much cheaper than standard guns. The 57 situation is simply market saturation. @@BlokeontheRange Yes I cant the rifles. With the air rifle at 10 meters it's irrelevant and with .22 at 50 meters I have to zero for that. But because of the training, my positioning is always the same, even between standing, kneeling and lying. The bar's irritat me because I concentrate on getting the cant right all the time, and fumble with the bar between shoots becaus it's never right for me. 😵 Letting this variable out helps me to better focus on my aim.

I love the little "graveyard" this man has of broken and busted parts all over his shop. I get the feeling these guns are "run hard and put away wet" over there.
