400 still entombed at crumbling Cranston mausoleum as break-ins continue

Don't pay your property taxes and the City will quickly take your property. Clearly no one is paying taxes on this property, so why isn't the city repossessing the property? I think we all know why. The longer the city of Cranston kicks the can down the road, the more expensive solutions become.

With no disrespect at all, if there are no remaining kinfolk or they are unable to do anything, then why not gather the remains and take them to the crematorium? 16 yrs their remains have been defiled with no end in sight: stop it, give them the dignity of removing their remains from being violated ever again. There is no need for expensive crypts, coffins, graveside at this point--and place a large plaque with all their names on it at the site of the ashes. Yes, if it was my dear loved ones, I'd still say this.

Find volunteers to protect the place, clear them to shoot trespassers on sight after a warning and give them immunity from criminal prosecution and civil suits. Word would get out real quick to stay away from the place. Sorry to say, but this is how BAD people need to be treated these days. Lenient treatment of criminals, of all ages, is rotting our society from within.

If it weren't for the trespassers we would have never known about this place and it's condition. A lot of those trespassers are doing it to make videos to put up on KZbin to expose the problem . It's not trespassing and vandalism that has caused this place to end up in this situation, it's the fact of it being abandoned and not maintained for many years that has led to the situation.

I emailed Governor McKee about this mausoleum and asked him if he was going to ask the Federal Government for money to help with this. I emailed Mayor Hopkins and WJAR on Friday too when I found out about this. WJAR was very quick to respond, which I greatly appreciated!!! I’m waiting to hear back from Mayor Hopkins and Governor McKee. I personally think mausoleums should no longer be built unless there is a substantial trust set up for repairs and no more than a dozen deceased can be placed in each one. This is a very sad situation and sadly, there are more mausoleums that are going through this. I have never seen a mausoleum that holds hundreds of bodies!! 1 of the mausoleums in the cemetery near me was broken into. It has 4 decedents. The POSs who done it thought they had Nazi artifacts in their caskets. They were caught and sent to prison!! The FBI and BCI came in and done forensics.

There are dozens of KZbin videos of people filming themselves trespassing into this Mausoleum, most to draw attention to the horrendous conditions of the vaults and remains. Taken altogether with this report, hopefully these people can be reinterred. It’s long overdue.

I’ve seen videos on this…the poor dead left are late Victorian, Edwardian folks who died before WW2…that’s why they are saying that are not from there due to the influx of European immigrants. No one alive has known them unfortunately…glad to see that the veterans are moved at least. 😪
