When you switched the capacitor, you accidentally place it in the positive position.

Your schematic here is inaccurate. The build doesn't work if you follow the schematic. The person building it in the video constructs it differently than what's shown in the schematic (specifically the pins connected between the IC and the LED display). Frustrating as a student. In the prior video or two in this course there is a similar issue.

Hi John! It looks like you're right....the wrong LED display schematic symbol was chosen, thus the pin numbers don't match like they should. Thanks for the heads up and apologies for the confusion. We'll update the schematics to be correct.
