People, relax. It's a video mainly about what you can buy for the same money. Great video, I haven't driven a Ford edge in any form but have driven a Q5 and it's a great vehicle for the money in my opinion. I can't see spending over $50 grand for a Ford suv or any other big 3 2 row suv to be honest. I'm still amazed that the new Chevy blazer can run over 50 grand.

I would suggest driving the Edge and Blazer. Edge is such a smooth ride. And the performance in the ST is just crazy.

Edge ST loaded with everything but the brake package is 39K. That is 401a, sky roof, 21 inch wheels, cold weather package. 39K isn't that bad compared to all the other brands and what you get. Sadly Ford doesn't allow you to have full boost during take off so 1st-2nd get held back guessing to help save the AWD system but once in 3rd - 8th you get it all the boost. Get it tuned from one of the many performance shops than you get boost in every gear and it is a different beast.

@@codykh just bought a 2019 edge st with all the addons including the brakes and big wheels. 28k miles. $36k. They sure did drop in value a lot but that’s a bargain for me! I really like the vehicle! My first cash purchase. The edge drives better with no payment lol.

Not a good comparison. I much rather see the new Passport vs. Ford Edge ST and new Blazer and Murano. The Q5 is smaller and a premium class (more comparable to a Lincoln).

I've driven all of the cars you've mentioned. The Edge beats them all in speed and handling. If you're a driver, you want a driver's car, if you're a passenger, you want something cushy and fancy pants.

I prefer the styling of the edge, in fact I think the edge, explorer and expedition all look better than any Mercedes SUVs in terms of exterior styling

Over a period of 5 years the cost of ownership would have you paying more to keep the Audi on the road. The Audi dealer will service your wallet more so than the Ford dealer

Nah man, I drove a co workers edge ST and wasn’t impressed at all. First of all, the edge ST is slower than the pre-facelift Edge Sport. It makes no sense but it’s true and proven. The brakes suck in the Edge ST, even the base Q5’s brakes are much better than the (performance oriented) ST. I drive an SQ5 and it destroys the Edge in a drag race too even though the edge has more torque. It’s mainly because of the instant power from the SQ’s supercharger and much better quicker shifting transmission. I thought I liked the edge but it’s no different than previous years. Now if we’re talking about the new Explorer ST that thing is worthy. They changed to RWD biased and it completely changed the handling characteristics for the better. The edge is still FWD biased so it seems like a hog.

I just purchased a 2019 Audi Q5 SLine Black package (IN Canada the top package is called the TECHNIK) that's the one I got. I upgraded from a Platinum (Top package) 2016 Nissan Murano which I had for 3 years (after purchasing new). There's not even a comparison in my opinion between the Murano and the Q5 except for the seats, the Murano seats are World Class. But the Q5 in my opinion beats the Murano in every other category. I test drove a Q3, the same Ford Edge as in this video, the 2019 Acura RDX, 2019 Honda Pilot, 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid (Which my wife purchased), 2019 Hyundai Kona and Ionic, and finally a Lexus RX 450. I'm a bigger guy and I have 2 growing boys (10 and 12), and the Q5 just seemed like the best bang for the buck for our family as I was looking to upgrade to something "nicer" from the Murano. I wanted to have a car with some juice and something FUN to drive too, but still pretty good on gas, and something good in the weather for living in the Pacific Northwest. My wife as I said got the Hybrid Rav for our commuter car, I'm lucky to work from home 75% of the time so the gas bill is never going to be too bad for me. @@oldtimer3824 My #1 reason...and this is just strictly personal taste I have to admit...is I can't stand the size of the Acura symbol on the front of the car...it just annoys me. I just simply preferred the LOOK of the Audi more. The Acura A-Spec is a nice ride however. All wheel drive on the Q5 was the big advantage and plus for me, and I Love the 4 different types of drive modes in Audi Drive Select, I'm also an audio snob...and the 19 speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound Settings I get with the TECHNIK package when listening to the type of music I love were a notch above the Acura. I forgot to mention I also test drove a Volvo XC60 and XC40. Nice rides for sure...but my personal preference brought me back to the Audi

Love my Ford edge red limited its so comfy on trips. Our back and legs are not sore we could walk . We were amazed how good we felt compared to our other vehicles. So much more comfortable. We get 28 miles to a gallon of gas. Wohoo next vech

Awarding the Q5 the win based upon value completely disregards the different pricing philosophies between U.S. vehicles and those of import brands. A guy can easily get $5k+ off the ST, and that’s your starting point. One suggestion- for a few hundred bucks you can get either of these tuned and they become rather imposing. I’ve seen STs get into the mid-4s 0-60 all day long. And I have the Audi’s EA888 power plant in my car, approximately 360 HP (cost $750).

Yes I'm sure the model with 80 less HP and well over 100 less ft/ lb of torque is only 1 tenth slower from 0-60. Audi is famous for that, they claim the same numbers as other cars that have a hundred more HP. Sorry I drove both and it's not even close.

I bet it is fairly close. I have an Edge ST and its boost limited in 1st and 2nd gear. It would blow the doors off the Audi in passing gear and in general driving it will outperform it. Not many people out there willing to test the limits of the new 8F57 8 speed to see if it will handle full boost in 1st or 2nd with a 4500lb vehicle.

My take on this comparison is, I would take the Ford Edge over the Audi, simply because I'm hours away from an Audi dealership and only 25 minutes from a Ford dealership.

Good Vid. though to compare an interior of a Luxury type car to a Sport type car is not a good comparison, the Audio has the same setup as say a Lincoln or Lexus.

I had a Focus ST. It had a feel of fun and playful. The edge is just a pregnant ST now. For all wheel drive I now own a Focus RS. Lots of space for me and a hell lot more fun. I will give the Edge an edge for a bigger family fun car. But for a smaller family fun car in the ST line goes to the Focus !

Mike Morales that’s fully loaded. Base starts at $42k. In this price range you’ll find the 4 cyl Audi Q5, 4 cyl. X3, Blazer RS, Acura RDX, etc. - and it will put perform all of them.

It's such a shame that Ford Australia pretty much ruined the edge (Or Endura as they called it here) by removing the 2.7L engine and replaced it with a 2.0L gutless diesel engine and then seriously over pricing it. It only lasted 2 years on the market here simply because you can buy a bigger, better and more popular Ford Everest (SUV version of the Ranger) for the same price. I really like the endura and would love to own one but again even on the 2nd hand market they are just too overpriced for what you are getting.

SQ5 based on its purpose is a better match but costs 10K more. the SQ5 would win that match up for sure though. Also at that price point you have to consider Macan S, Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport, BMW x3 M40i and a bunch of other 50K+ cars.
