About the line formation, there is a psychological element their. Both as a moral boost for the Janissaries, standing shoulder to shoulder with their brothers at arms, and the intimidation factor of watching an army of steely warriors marching in perfect unison, clad in death masks. Continuing forward seemingly unfazed by your gunfire, or even your artillery cannon. Honestly that might be more intimidating than even Space Marines.

The Immortals of Persia were an effective shock troop, as they marched headlong into aline, clad in death masks, and seemingly unphased by the death of their comrades. But this factor spreads to other regiments, such as the Death Korps, and the Armageddon Steel Legion. Very much intimidating.

My old 40K GM was a huge fan of the Armageddon Steel Legion owing to their 3rd Edition doctrine of being the only Guard regiment at the time able to field a full Mech Guard list instead of the standard foot sloggers with tank support. He also accused the Death Corps of Krieg of ripping off the Steel Legion's schtick (since they were introduced after the Legion,) with their uniforms being based on WW1 Germans when the Legion took inspiration from WW2 Germany.

If there's one thing I don't like about the Dawn of War games, even with mods like UA, is that you don't really get a lot of variants with the appearance of your guardsmen. It's usually like Cadian Shock Troops, Catachan Devils, sometimes Death Korps, and Steel Legion. It's never the Praetorian Guard, never the Drop Troops, and most certainly NEVER the Janissaries. I want more screentime for the less well-known Guard regiments. Yes, I know the former are usually picked because they're the most instantly recognizable, but come the fuck on, I want to see these, Talarn, Tanith, Attila and others too.

as u know Arch ;Olannius Pius, Dolan, Sebastian Thor ,Macharius and Drusus are all canonical male saints but there are no models or not much of any pictures nearly for them . what is your thoughts on the matter?

Well, Macharius once had a model. The rest doesnt have models, because they dont appear really in the battles of 40k (or in the case of Thor in battles at all). Unlike Celestin for example, they didnt get reincarnated to beat crap up later, so they are not "Living" Saints, just saints (as in: Dont get back). Although a Ollanius Pius model in 30 k would be awesome.

There's been several throughout the Lore, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader and Only War goes into detail with many, including a Psyker becoming a Saint. Just in the Calixis Sector alone there is the following Male Saints. Drusus the Warrior (What Archie has said about him) :) Quivvar Nog of Fedrid (a Missionary who spread the word of the emperor to the most primitives of mankind across the sector) Vidicus the Forlorn (Warrior Confessor who was slain in battle against the Orks despite uniting the guard near him into unbelievable feats of heroism) Rybel Gorth the Watcher of the Dark (A psyker who sacrificed himself to save sacred knowledge rather than it be lost or taken by the Ancient Enemy). This is taken from The Blood of Martyrs Expansion Book for Dark Heresy.
