But, he gave it a great run-through so far and really has been putting it through the hoops. If I were Harbor-Freight I'd seriously, unrequested/no strings attached, send him everything I think he'd like. Money well spent. Win Win Win (Us Eric HF). ...and any fool who'd be like 'he's selling out' - that's absurd. He and Mrs. O have built this channel and I think they should maximize their $$s. As someone who deals with the bottom of the auction barrel on a daily basis, I WISH the issues were this simple. Auction vehicles are proof that there are some really lousy auto techs out there as well as some really shady ones. Nice find Mr. O! Love your channel, keep up the good work!
@RB-qq1ky2 ай бұрын
Not just the techs, we had a used car buyer that would remove the ABS fuse on certain models he was going to bid on (it was under hood and easy to get at on those ones) while he was ‘viewing’ the vehicle prior to the auction starting. The dealers got first look before the general public. This would put the warning light on, discourage other buyers and theoretically lower the bids when the car went under the hammer
@artemis97892 ай бұрын
@@RB-qq1ky from what I understand, buyers aren't allowed to touch the vehicles anymore, at least where my employer buys from. Probably from these kind of tactics.

My youngest son works for Subaru, but his day off was today, and he came in the shop and laughed at me because the 2500HD I took in, had a 6" lift kit on it, and the hood was as high as the top of my head. Freaking tires came up to my waist. Yesterday I had a 2021 Lincoln MKX in because the park assist wasn't working. Every sensor had a circuit code. Told them this is wiring not sensors. Got under it and the big connector behind the bumper was completely disconnected. Plugged it back in, scanned it and tested it, all good. Crazy. Tomorrow it's a Trax that just got a new turbo installed at the dealer, and now has a misfire. o.0

It's not easy to find a 750mA test light in the retail world, most incandescent lights are about 75-150. I wonder if there is a source for really high current bulbs that fit into the OTC light probe. As you say, for an LED circuit it won't matter that there is a little upstream resistance added with the test light. People just have to remember that with high resistance loads, even medium current lights won't pull enough juice to glow when drawing current. Even so, the added reassurance you're not going to melt something upstream is nice. Well done Eric!

People do some ignorant stuff on wiring. I just bought a used UTV , the guy said the temp sensor that controls the radiator fan was bad so he bypass it. Put a switch on the dash with a note saying turn on fan. AND he used solid Romex wire. So now if a person forgets to to turn on the fan switch the engine will over heat. I trouble shot the temp sensor and redid the wires he cut. Works like it supposed to. This ole geaser was from up state NY 😮

I work on Auction cars. This has been happening since the start of this year when we started accepting them. They all have a laundry list of issues. I feel sorry anyone who has to be stuck buying these cars 4 times than what they are worth. We are only doing them since the shop regular customers have stopped coming down to the shop. It's either the economy or the way the shop owner is. Which isn't even no fault of my own. We had one guy tow in a KIA optima with over 350,000 miles on it. I told them this isn't even worth scrap value. That is a throw away car so they left it in the parking lot for months. Someone did break into it and try to start it after tearing out the key cylinder. There was no battery in it. Kinda wished they did stole it though.

about 30 years ago I de-pinned a transmission connector wire that fed the TCC lockup solenoid, something happened inside trans where it would lock and get stuck. it would not release, even after shutting car off and playing around, it would just instantly stall the engine, I eventually revved it up and yanked it in gear and with a big bang it released. once the wire was removed it had no issues and oddly never set a check engine light for about two years of daily driving, until they traded it in(yikes). I thought they were going to drive until scrap yard bound, go figure!
