His character arc is pretty much the whole plot of Naruto, and his moral greyness is what makes him interesting and badass. Sasuke is one of my favourite characters in Naruto, I really enjoy his story and the changes he undergoes (though at some points was a bit inconsistent) and he has a great design, with some of the coolest powers in the series, it's hard to rank my favourite moment of his, but his battles with Naruto are probably the part I find most entertaining.

Sasuke did not try to kill Naruto in the first Final Valley fight. He even states he that. "I'll achieve the power my own way and not how Itachi wants". Itachi told Sasuke he had to kill the person closest to him. He refused to do that.

He definitely did try, when he suplex piled drove Naruto into the dirt he was 100% trying to kill him there. You can see the moment before he does it when he resolves himself to actually go through with it. When it didn't work he had second thoughts and decided to do it his own way.

By far the coolest fictional character ever. He’s not a huge yapper, on the contrary anything sasuke says is meaningful. He’s very intelligent. He’s ALWAYS calm and collected no matter how much danger it seems he’s in. And this is part of the reason he also has the best fights in the series. Completamente. E é notável o quanto o critério de lógica, imparcialidade analítica dele é comprometido quando se trata do Sasuke. Não é a toa que na Fan Fic dele, Sasuke já no inicio da fase Shippuden começa um alto nível de Hokage com arsenal de jutsos maior que o Kakashi, podendo fazer 2 jutsos de uma vez só com um em cada mão, e com 10x mais chakra q no manga. capaz de derrotar um Naruto possuído por 5 caldas sem grandes dificuldades. Basicamente um Sasuke que já podia entrar sozinho na reunião dos 5 kages e matar 100% dos ninjas lá dentro.

One of the many things that I loved about what kishimoto did was he made sasuke carve out his own path/journey, have some character arcs, instead of making him run alongside Naruto throughout the entire series like he was some random character that just happens to be Naruto's right hand man. It's one of the main reasons why I consider him as one of the greatest shonen deuteragonist

The character of Sasuke was good and early Naruto was even great. The problem with his character after Shippuden or even the late OG Naruto is that he simply becomes petty and unable to control his jealousy. Many fanfictions portray Sasuke as an evil character, just because of this. This is absurd. Sasuke is a cool character. He has a great background. His character design, Jutsu arsenal, and even growth overall are perfect. The only thing that sucks about him is the fact that he can't digest others being stronger than him until Naruto gave him the last beating and he finally accepted his loss. I think Kishimoto not planning about Sasuke's character was the main reason behind this. Because although Sasuke was a cold character, he didn't look like someone who would be jealous of other's power. That being said, it didn't feel sudden when Sasuke started feeling jealous of Naruto's powers from his battle with Gaara. This problem continued until late Shippuden especially when he clearly thought how Naruto had so much Chakra and it was all wasted on him. That was a pure moment of jealousy at its peak. And, this might be the core reason why many people do not like Sasuke.
