As a 🇨🇦 who lives in beautiiful British Columbia I was thrilled that John featured this penultimate explorer yacht that was originally built by Burrard Drydock in the heart of Vancouver, BC which of course sits that the mouth of the mighty Fraser River named after the British explorer, Simon Fraser. This is a fitting name for this yacht given her roots. Beautiful video John, thank you for featuring this 🇨🇦 built yacht.

Morn'n Johnno. For me there is a point in the size of a vessel where the larger it gets it starts to become a "Cruise Ship". The perspective of this vessel gives me this impression. Big is not always better or beautiful. Like your home, there is a relationship - subconsciously or not - between you and the space you live in. Would you say living in a hotel is "Intimate"? In many, if not all Palaces and mansions you will see the owners have created an apartment to live in. This is not recent, many were done 100s' of years ago. From experience, i find many people with space end up gravitating to a few rooms.....near the kitchen. A Presto Giovanni, Colazione attende.

Amazing yacht except for one small Achilles's Hell...the "beach club". These are find for yat-chets putt-putting around the Med or Keys, but for something that's designed to go into the Arctic or Antarctic for extended periods, they're a danger point that isn't worth the risk. Now, if it was a sealed compartment with zero access to any interior parts of the ship, I could be convinced to change my outlook, but for now, if it was mine, it would be welded closed and turned into something else. Even though it's been hacked in half, a plug added, and completely refurbished, it's still a 62 year old hull...That's a lot of coin for something that old.
@YachtBuoy2 жыл бұрын
I was trying to find some pictures of her from the 60’s but couldn’t find anything. It would be interesting to know her history
@kfeltenberger2 жыл бұрын
@@YachtBuoy Agreed! There's one picture of what she probably looked like before the rebuild - it was where she was a cream color and being pushed into the build house. It looks like they cut the hull forward of the superstructure, added a plug, and either added a deck or two to the superstructure or just completely removed and rebuilt it.

To be honest, on paper she does look impressive, but personally I am not a fan of towering "wedding-cake" superstructures, especially on "explorer" type yachts. I can't help but wonder how truly "sea-worthy", she would prove in extreme weather conditions, especially with a seemingly low open "forward/well deck", in comparison to her other dimensions. Also despite her acceptable range, her top/cruising speeds might at best, be described as merely "ponderous"..? Her suggested asking price of +/- 41 million is surprisingly/"suspiciously" low when compared to other similarly sized and spec'd vessels. Perhaps the shipyard fears getting stuck, with a less than highly desirable vessel...?
@chuckbecker4983 Жыл бұрын
That big open vulnerable bow is a BIG problem if you intend to go to high latitudes or the tropicals during cyclone season. I have had anchor windlass steam piping crushed, ship's bell ripped from the foremast, and catwalks twisted like foil. I would NEVER store anything more fragile than a blacksmith's anvil on that foredeck.

I think that when it costs more to crew and run your yaght than what most people's yaghts cost.....your yaght has become a "ship"
@fabiogoncalves97282 жыл бұрын
For such a price, I would have expected the helipad not to be a T&Go type but a heliport with garage space underneath, such as the one configured on T6. The rest looks awesome.

Are benetti building her or are they the designers of her?
@panpiper2 жыл бұрын
The sale price is almost inconsequencial compared to the yearly operating cost. With any yacht, if the purchase price makes you balk even the slightest, you absolutely cannot afford to operate it. A yacht this size would cost between $5 to $8 million a year to own, depending on how much it is used. Double that if you want to run it year round.

It seems that motor yacht designers and builders feel the need to put rather obvious,and…looking like an afterthought swim platforms on the stern ,they always look intrusive,and spoil lines of the vessel..I look at this as a retired marine engineer of 40 years.i may be somewhat old fashioned,but hey that is my style.Roly 🇬🇧.

She is beautiful. Wonder how long it will take me to save up $39,000,000.? The only changes I'd want to do is to add a hard top over the sun deck and cram as many solar panels or solar sheets on her as possible, especially since she is already powered by electric motors
