Great instruction, thank you! I just resined my first pieces last night. None are gallery worthy, but I will probably give a couple to family. Covered with the food cover you recommended. This morning I see just a few spots (dust?). Ack! I checked 3 times! One on canvas, one on a 6x6 tile. Ugh!😣 Do I need to sand the whole thing and resin again? Also noticed the canvas one has little ridges (very small bumps?) along the edge. You mentioned that is okay. Would it go away with a second coat? I'm tempted to just leave them.
@KanellaCiracoArt

Just sand the spots with the dust. Not the whole thing. A second coat of resin would help with the ridges on the canvas.

Hi Kanella! I greatly appreciate your tutorial! I resined my first pieces and followed your instructions exactly (same resin brand etc). I had trouble with each canvas as the resin pulled away from the edges and left a quarter inch all around the top of the canvases without any resin. Why does that happen and how to I prevent it in the future, and how do I fix the ones I did? THANK YOU!!!
@KanellaCiracoArt
@KanellaCiracoArt 8 ай бұрын
You have to make sure the canvas is tight and not sagging in the middle. Also if you didn’t add enough resin that’s also the issue. You can just add another coat to try to fix it

Hello Kanella, I tried Krystal Resin for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately it dried with alot of air bubbles in it so I will have to do a second coat. Do I need to sand all of the bubbles? If so what # grit do you suggest and how much(deep)? I absolutely love the shine of the finish, just disappointed with the bubbles ( I did purchase a heat gun specifically for this process). I am a huge follower of yours, and you have given me the gift of art. I did watch both your resin videos before and after trying to resolve the problem without bothering you. I know you always say.... watch the whole video, and the information is in the description .. haahaa

Hey Becky, sorry to hear about the issue you’re having. Although I’m a little confused as to why you would have that many bubbles. Also if you have a heat gun and you used it on the resin (a few times) then there shouldn’t have been any bubbles at all. Please email me at kanellaciraco@gmail.com Maybe you can send me pictures so I can have a better understanding of what your piece looks like etc.

Hi Kanella, can I ask you a question please. I have watched your tutorial a few times and thought I had followed your instructions carefully. I live in the UK and can’t find Krystal Resin. However I went for a top rated one on Amazon here. All went well with mixing and pouring. However the next day all around the border had very little resin. I had tried with a spirit level to make sure it was level. What are your thoughts please ? Thank you 😊
@KanellaCiracoArt

Your canvas may have been level but if the canvas dipped in the centre or was saggy then that could be part of the issue. Or the resin isn’t good quality?

hey have you ever noticed at the dentist they have those sticky on 1 side square sheets of stiff plastic wrap that they put anywhere they will touch while working on you? Like the big light that pivots handle? You need some of those for your gun, torch.. hair dryer. Who knows where to get them.. medical supplies. Have you ever done a pour say like in the negative space of this with different colors after coat 1 of resin. Or even like edge the current paint with metallic paint? Silver would be gorg on this. Will it stick to the resin?

I love the shininess but hate it too. It reflects the light from everywhere to the point you can not see the painting.

It really depends on where that painting is hanging.

What if you just left the painting as it was? Would it be ok? Or is it necessary to resin it?

You could, but over time it will eventually fade and just not look the same. Resin or varnish protects the paint and vibrancy of the colours.

Oooooo Kanella! I'm always getting divots in my resin and I'm careful to wash painting first and then rinse and wipe with alcohol!!! I'm sitting here freaking out with you rubbing yr bare hands all over the canvas and then washing it! HOW do the oils from yr skin not affect the resin??? Maybe it's because I can't get Krystal resin Australia??? Drives me nuts even after careful cleaning I have to sand and recoat!!! My largest one now has 3 coats and I'm still not happy with it! Probably bring down the wall if I try hang it, must be so heavy 🙄 DO you think it's the resin??? 😢😢😢 PS I don't use silicone or any other oils!

I never ever wash my canvases or wipe them down with alcohol. Maybe that’s your issue? Could also be the brand of resin you use as well.

@KanellaCiracoArt I'd say it's resin but then I've used many brands 🤷‍♀️ I'll try on a tiny one next time I mix and see what happens. Thank you so much for responding, I do appreciate it 💖🙏💖
