Great video. Do you have a recommendation on a transmission rebuild kit to replace everything that would need to be replaced?

Thanks. No kit is going to come with everything you will need. The kit from the dealer will come with the pistons, snap rings and pressure plates that the dealer recommends be replaced. Is a really good kit. I recommend those for any Chrysler transmission. If you don't want to go that route, Transtec from WIT or Transtar. You will want a master kit with pistons. But it will not come with the snap rings and pressure plates that is recommended to replace.

at about what mileage would the 42RLE NEED a rebuild, I have a leaky front pump/seal..and on my 05 TJ, its at 218k miles. shifts perfectly, no clunks..is it worth the rebuild?

Might as well do it while it is out. See them at all different mileages. Most somewhere around yours.

Have you ever had that trans where all 4 forward gears work great but no reverse ? I have one now that is giving me hell .

On the scanner, when you put it in reverse is it showing reverse on the PRNDL? Are you sure you got the check balls right in the valve body?

@@CurmudgeonTransmission the owner drove the truck 2 months before it had no reverse, so check balls are good. Ill check PRNDL with the scanner. thanks

@@CurmudgeonTransmission it shows reverse and all the other indicators correct. Low /reverse pressure sensor shows off when in reverse, shows on when in drive.

Anyone can launch a Shuttle to the moon - try rebuilding a 42rle AND GET IT RIGHT ! What city is your shop in ?

They are a persnickety unit, They either work great or you have nothing but trouble with it. One of the harder ones to get to stay out there.
