You didn’t by chance put a measuring tape on the combo..I was wondering how close to 43” those tires where?
@aireddown8132 жыл бұрын
In fact I did. And they are right at 43” with 30 lbs of air. Honestly I was hoping they would measure 41”-42”, but alas, they are humongous.

Just ordered my KMC Hex Beadlocks and am researching the Power Tank Monster valves. Thanks for the informative vid and the garage assist running around by the Jeep is super cute. Little kids rule the world!!! Especially when they are Grandbabies.

Kids are awesome! Now my little helper in the bouncer is walking. If it helps your decision, I’m loving the monster valves just the little I’ve used them. I’m 100% sold on them and on Powertank. It’s a great company and great dudes who actually wheel.

Did you end up getting the ring to contact the wheel? I had similar issues with the KMC washers and replace them all with grade 8 washers and it fixed it. Are you bolts also not centered in the recess for the head?
@aireddown813 Жыл бұрын
I did get them to make contact, I went up to something like 32 ft lbs and that did it. My bolt heads are not centered.
@duvinclunk Жыл бұрын
@@aireddown813 My bolts are also not center. I've seen several KMCs and that seems to be normal for KMC, but it's a little annoying. I had problems with the ring hitting too and they sent me out spacers. The spacers were way too big so I ended taking them off and going to 32 ft/lbs and got it there. They have performed great so far and look sharp.
@aireddown813 Жыл бұрын
@@duvinclunk it’s hard not to like the KMCs. They look great and have the beef. Not perfect, but for sure close enough.
@duvinclunk Жыл бұрын
@@aireddown813 I watched your video and just laughed because your process was almost identical to mine. Between the washers and the ring, I was right there. I couldn't find anyone else to write or record about these issues, but then got several confirmations of this happening from people face to face.

You had to have these custom drilled (bolt pattern)?
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
Yes, custom drilled to 8x170mm. It actually wasn’t hardly any more expensive from BB Wheels when I got them last year. The darn wheels went way up in price this year, but hopefully BB still does custom patterns.

What do they actually measure aired up? And measure on the rig?
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
I will measure them and let you know next time I’m at the shop.
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
I measured the tires at 20 psi on and off the rig. They are 43” dead even off the rig and 42.5” on the rear of the Durango with full weight.
@soundwavvves3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, man. What’s your impression of them 9 months later? Are they on a trail-only rig? If not, I’m wondering what kind of ride and mileage the soft bias tires put out on pavement.
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
Andrew, thanks for the question. I still haven’t finished building the rig they are going on, so I can’t report much, but from what I see these tires wear down fast, but travel surprisingly well for what they are on the street. One thing is for certain, these really aren’t street tires at all. They are designed for 90% offroad and 10% on road in my opinion.
@markburkhalter414 жыл бұрын
Wow I’m excited to see the Durango build I have an 01 that I love! Are you going to swap a different motor into it?
@aireddown8134 жыл бұрын
I plan to keep the 5.9L for a while. I have 5.38 gears to help the motor. I just plan on a good exhaust system and electric fan for now. A few years down the road, I can see doing a 5.7L or 6.4L Hemi swap. Maybe even a diesel option.

I measured it at one point, then never wrote it down. I will measure them again and get back to you.

Just measured them again. At the very widest, these tires are 17-7/8” wide sidewall lug to sidewall lug. The actual carcass of the tire is right at 16” wide. This is at 28psi on 20”x10” KMC hex beadlocks.
