This is a longfri helmet ($200+shipping) that has been rebranded & marked up 75%. A few ppl have asked in the comments & it absolutely is. Although a lot of helmets look similar because they are based on an ACH or MICH type design. This helmet has the same padding, retention, weight & even tag on the top inside as the longfri. I get companies send out products to be tested & promoted but $350 vs $199 is a HUGE difference and NOT a good budget option when compared to itself sold under a different name. Even if I were unaware at the time I’d feel a certain type of way if a company sent me out a helmet that I promoted and recommended that was just rebranded With a 75% premium for a helmet cover. I do appreciate you taking the time to shoot and review it! I’m ok with rebranding happens all the time but for that much of a price difference it should come with other things for example better customer service, longer warranty, extra or upgraded padding, better retention system, etc. and if it doesn’t it should be called out.

Fuck … I have typed in Guard dog FAST several times in the past few weeks and even tried zooming in to both images, seeing how the Longfri had terrible pictures for the close-up I thought I ascertained the padding was different enough to warrant the purchase. Tonight I get it and this video appears on my feed and now i’m reading this comment-_- Thank you regardless for the heads up ! I’m likely going to return it

So I did some more sleuthing and looking at the underside of the helmets it does look like they at least switched the padding 😅 IN THE NEW images, in the video Thats definitely a Longfri

Now put it on a gel head with some artificial blood and brain and see what happens. Having it sit by itself on a table doesn't show the concussion wave that's passing through it

I realize this isn't scientific official testing .... 1. It would be nice if you could have stabilized the helmet like the final 9mm shots, for all the testing.... 2. Listed ammo used, velocity, bullet type, and grain weight all matter. I still enjoyed the video and information

im having a really hard time deciding on a helmet. I dont have money for ops core and i keep coming back to this one. I just read all over the internet that its china garbage and it makes me worry. I could care less if its made in china.. i just want to be able to wear it with confidence that it will protect against what its suppose to. Do you honestly 2 years later still recommend these? The reason you're not seeing the deformation is it is sliding on the table and not on a head or dummy head even a melon... AR-500 offers a helmet just under 300 with out a code but still thank you for all you do and time you put into videos... thank you

I got mine. And it looks like mine is an updated version. Little different strap tight and different padding. It doesnt have that black hard foam, its kind like gel and somethin else maybe

@@elmSTREETnasty pardon, yes the retention and padding are superior on the Guard Dog, I even spent some time comparing the websites pages side by side and I believe that Guard Dog’s website had a worrying image which prompted this post, the image was the underside of the helmet , and they appeared the same. When my helmet arrived I immediately checked the padding and was pleasantly surprised, impressed even. Edit : I wear it on and off around the house while doing chores and stuff, it doesn’t give me a headache after prolonged use ! So thats awesome I got the Large size and it fits great

Nice helmet, but the backface deformation is actually at its largest point at the exact time of impact. Keep in mind, it bulges on impact, then retracts a bit. This is why NIJ uses clay to test armor plate backface deformation. The full impact depth can only be measured by the clay and a digital caliper/sliderule.
