Great video.... I have two motor home 440s one cast crank and one forged steel both with six pak rods...both standard bore and cherry less than 35k miles on both... One for my 77 doba...the other for my 71 Charger...if I live long enough.😂😂😂

Nice work. I’ve had 2 440’s thru the years and they are my favorite engine. Don’t know if I would be able to put one in my Demon. Too tight of a fit for me to do. Would need you & JMJ to help out !!! 😁👍

I tend to stick to the idea that if you're running stock heads then you can probably get by with a cast crank. If you upgrade the heads then it's time to think about a forged crank.

Hi Joshua, I appreciate you watching and the comment. It depends what power level you're at. I have had many small block Chevys run 10.50s and 10.60 with 442 cast cranks. I had gen 3 Camaro run 9.20 with 2 kits of nitrous and had a cast Eagle stroker crankshaft. Bob Glidden ran ProStocks in the 70's with cast crankshafts. But run what you can afford or what you think is best for you. Have a great weekend. 👍

@@edsmachine93 I almost edited what I wrote because you throw a 200 shot of nitrous or 20 psi of boost and stock heads start putting out power that they shouldn't be ble to. And well ported Bowties can flow surprisingly well. Like all things automotive it's more of a guiding principle than a rule. 😉 Pro stock on cast crank?!? I never heard of that. I believe you I'm just surprised and impressed.

Ed, are my eyes deceiving me or am I not able to see any radius's on the journals?

Hi Anthony, thanks for watching. Mopars do not have fillet radius. They are all undercut radius. Only the Kellogg Hemi Crankshafts had a full fillet radius. So your eyes were not deceiving you.👍 Have a good evening.

Would you trust a cast crank in a 440 six pack build 450 to 500 horse if I can make the horse power with out stroking it I’ve had a few 440s with steel cranks but just stock and I still manages to spin the bearings lol it really wasn’t funny not sure if it was my fault or the builder it was a Maltese cross hp block I think it has different journals or something like that and the guy that built it just used regular bearings and I think that was the problem he didn’t know what the Maltese cross meat ?

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate you watching and commenting. The Maltese Cross can me many things. Over bore, different bearing size, crankshaft being turned and undersized bearings or oversized lifter bores. I never used 440 Sixpack rods on a cast crankshaft, there were some factory truck and motorhome blocks that had Sixpack rods. I never did a Performance build yet with that combo. But 450/500 Horsepower is no problem for sure. Have a great day. 👍

Thank you sir have a great day wish I was close to you but in Ontario Canada I just found a 69 440 that has been in a dry trailer for the last at least 15 years and I know it was for a super bee build it’s standard bore so hopefully I’m good after sonic testing and all that stuff love watching your channel a lot you can learn so have a great weekend it’s almost the weeekend
