You need to deglaze those clutch sheeves.steel wool and some carb clean works wonders! So if that is the original carb,it would b jetted very rich with the stock jetting.reason why is those engines were jetted for the cold temperatures. Cold air = more of it,therefore more fuel is reguird.it needs to b leaned out.that thing should rip up to high rpm very quickly. A light golden brown spark plug is what your looking for.it should turn 8000 rpm when jetted correctly. So those belts should also b cleaned in hot soapy water before they ate used.they have a mold release chemical on them from the manufacturer. It causes the clutch sheeves to glaze over and it hurts performance.rode and worked professionally on snowmobiles for over 30 years.
@bradley3549
@bradley3549 2 жыл бұрын
Love when all these youtubers are just wildly guessing at gear ratios. It's pretty trivial to calculate what the effective gear ratio was in the snowmobile that engines came from and translate it to a go-kart to get in the ballpark. Most snowmobiles of that era use a 2.52" track pitch and usually between 7-10 teeth on the drive sprockets. So effectively the snowmobiles 'tire' is 7x2.52" to 10x2.52" in circumference. So that's ~5.5 - 8" in diameter. Snowmobile chaincases are usually somewhere around 2:1 ratio. So if you roughly triple the effective circumference of the drive wheel by going from say an 8" diameter snowmowbile sprocket to a 16" diameter tire, you need to reduce your gear ratio by 1/3. So from 2:1 to 6:1.

A few things to consider.. Rear axle "chain adjustment" can be done by making the swing-arm length adjustable. (IE. Axle or main swing arm attachment point.) The jack-shaft chain can have a skateboard wheel on a piece of all thread, kind of like an automobile belt tensioner. As for the gearing, top speed will be attained with a 21t lower jackshaft/front sprocket and a 42 tooth rear axle sprocket. The upper jackshaft sprocket should be 17t and the lower power transfer sprocket should be 39t. Engine max RPM should be between 7500-8500 and is set in combination using the weight of the magneto and the weights in the clutch. The engine engagement speed is determined by the stiffness of the primary clutch spring. 3800-4500 is good. The secondary clutch is akin to gears, in a constant velocity transmission, the tension in the secondary will allow for adjusting low end torque by increasing to keep the gear lower during the powerband. But it will affect top end if tightened too much.

Tramoline springs, blown seal too much back pressure on the exhaust and get you a new set of piston rings and start over. Try running a 16 to 1 fuel mix to keep your rings lubed and cool, I haven't seen enough smoke comming out of the 2 cycle to say your getting enough oiling to the internal parts.

I say this was pretty cool for explaining things to everyone about what you were doing and why. The couple of background setups that a few of the guys do is pretty funny beyond Isaac or the end with both down on the floor goofing off. There is one very big thing I really wanted to point out to you guys to really think about after watching the grand Prix laps for a while now. I really do not want to see one of you guys hurt gain as Isaac did with the 4-wheeler where he was in the cast for a few months. Your finish line as you guys come across at speed. You have all those cars parked in front of the big shop and next to the smaller one also. I keep watching and waiting for someone to crash into one of them and get hurt. How about moving the parking area on the side of the shop by the big door which would get things out of the way to prevent something from happening and there is lots of room there to stash things. That and the other thing I was waiting for Isaac to crash into the red Volvo wagon many times screaming around also. I see a few things in the background that may or may not be cool projects around. What is up with that red wagon? Is that a baby vette next to the old shop in white? The carport for the tine truck and the caddy looks very nice for the setup. What is the little black go-kart shiners Model T at the end of the video on the floor? That could be fun for something? Parades with some toys and it that you guys are doing? hahahha.

Your tuning issues might be resolved by returning the exhaust/expansion chamber system back to the way it came from the factory. It looks like a short section of "header pipe" was added. This addition affects the timing of the pressure waves that the system was designed to match the port tuning and both, scavenge the burnt exhaust gasses and keep the fresh air/raw fuel mix from exiting the combustion chamber.

Couple things to consider. Sled engines need more fuel to run in the summer. Look into tuning your clutches because you're only getting 2/3ish of that kawasakis rpms out of it. That belt WILL go thru the seat if it pops. Get that old Kawa spinning all the way up and give it a bunch more fuel and you will have to gear it down cuz it's way too fast!

You guys need to flip the jackshaft pulley around or get one that opens the same way as the engine clutch. If you don't, you're going to keep burning belts no matter how many jackshafts you do to reduce gearing. Belt misalignment is not something to shrug off. Also, ontop of that issue another reason you should get a different secondary is it looks like you're using a V belt (to make primary on motor), but the secondary looks to take a standard gokart flatside belt. That could cause some issues with slipping/burning aswell.

Oh man. As a welder/fabricator, you guys really need to start runnin some better beads. Very gapper/nugget/booger welding. Yick. Your ideas are great and you have good content. Love what you do just dislike the boogerness.😜

I mean, I will say they've never been known for having good welding, but thats not why people watch them. They throw stuff together on the cheap. Red Beards Garage does some awesome pretty welding, if thats your thing.

I used to have that issue on my 196cc Honda; too much crankcase pressure due to blowby and no adequate venting caused this issue.

You may want to consider improving you engine mounting system to a sturdier plate type mount in place of the through bolts through square tube..

Replace both the pto and the mag side seal, you will need a proper puller for the clutch ad for the flywheel.

So sweet great wrk guys. Hey. Be cool to lose that restrictive muffler off the end of that expansion pipe an put a shorty silencer on it. Real gains.

You should use the plasma cnc and make a can muffler for it. All the videos on YT say it adds hp and torque.
