Stronger spring out back will make it launch harder and hold more power. Lighteir weights up front will make it grab at higher RPM leading to a harder launch. You gotta find the right balance on that for your powerband. I also think you can take a LOT more weight out of that CVT backplate, its way overbuilt. Break out the 2" holesaw on that thing

Questions: a firewall with holes in it? A thin aluminum sheet would be preferable to keep the fire out of the driver area, since you put holes in the actual firewall. Are you running methanol, or Nitromethane? If nitromethane, what percentage? Weight wise, Nitro is 10lbs/gallon, gas is around 8, so you will be adding to the nose by merely switching fuel. If you are running actual nitro, PLEASE talk to people that use it. There are some very legitimate safety concerns that you don't know that you don't know. I would be glad to help you. Driver safety; strap in to the car, put on a blindfold, turn the lights out, and see how fast you can get out of the car in case of an emergency. Another safety item; what will you do to protect the driver from a rear impact? Compared to steel and concrete in an accident, people are unfortunately kinda squishy and messy.

I use lipo batteries on my minibike for my tillotson 212 with electric start. As long as the engine isn't charging the lipo and it's only used to start and run coils, it'll be fine. They are so light and small, you could probably get away with a 2-4 lbs of battery max. Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 65~130C Lipo Pack w/XT-90 , for example, can burst to 650 amps (325 amps sustained) and it weighs literally 1 pound. buy a few and charge 'em up for the track, they will last a while if all its doing is starting/running coil. I would build a case for them though, lipo's are gnarly if punctured.

Reducing weight is indeed one of the easiest and cheapest ways to gain serious speed, so big thumbs up for that 👍With a lithium battery you can easily drop another 10 pounds if not more. And some holes can be drilled bigger. And you can also cut or round the edges from the holes, either with a bigger drill or some sort of abrasive grinder or with a wood router with a carbide bit. It would be nice to see this project go to the extreme. I mean, it doesn't have to happen all at once. It is a nice project series to watch, and it is nice to see that you guys keep improving this drag racer. And it is also nice to see to you all seem to enjoy it a lot as well. A simple solution to losing the starter/battery is mount a belt pulley to the flywheel via those allen bolts..then mount a small motorwith another belt pully to a hand held frame of your liking (perhaps 2 ft 1" pipe with 2 small hoops on the person side) with a 1/2 pin at the motor end end that engages a small receiver welded to the top of the frame..this will act as a alignment/pivot point to keep the belt straight and to allow you to pivot for tension..as for the battery a small Li battery would be enough to power all your gadgets for several runs..

Lighter tires and wheels have less rotational inertia, they will be easier for the engine to get moving. Rpm is what makes drag tires grow, you really have to fling them.

Only the tires on Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars really grow. Even Pro Stock tires don't. Alcohol dragsters, maybe.

Get an offset impact grade attachment and you should be able to start it, or cut a notch with a plate with an opening for the extention to bump start it

You can get rid of the battery completely. Put a set of Anderson plugs on the battery leads, and then you can use the battery to start the engine, unplug, and go down the track. If you need 12V for your guages, you can simply make a battery pack from AA or C dry cells, or a 3S Lipo if you have experience with those. You do not need a battery for ignition, as those are magneto type ignition coils.... remember the magnets in the flywheel? Also there are a few pounds in your steering wheel... you could find a lighter alternative there as well.

Use signage vinyl on the engine to driver separation plate you drilled all the holes in this will stop any oil getting to the driver in a catastrophic engine failure

I have to suggest a body around the cockpit and arm restraints , with it open like it is there is a real good chance of breaking/losing an arm if you do ever crash/rollover at speed.

Got high hopes for this rig. Any plans in the offing for the honda ruckus and/or the mini truck?

Every launch at the track has been at idle. If wheel spin is not a factor, wouldn’t power braking before launch = faster ET?
