Could you send me a link to where I could find info on the all Daylight Consist?

Aidan Murray The problem with the modern day steam excursions is there isn’t a standard set of cars. The group that owns and operates 4449 have an auxiliary tender for water, a baggage car for tools, crewmen and parts, a steam generator car and a few other passenger cars from different railroads. In checking on the internet I found that the trains use cars from various private groups and museums. Primarily coaches, maybe a dome car and a snack car, but definitely no sleeping cars. The tail end usually an observation car.

Too much steam admission is causing a lot of unused steam in the exhaust and "pulling" incomplete combustion gases (smoke) from the firebox. That's why you see black smoke at the exhaust stack and the condensate further back in the plume....

Interesting concept, thanks for the update.

Still not quite as grand as any 3 of Union Pacific's steam locomotives. #844: Living Legend, #3985 Challenger, #4014 Big Boy. Keep on trying, you might make it... Hah!. Remember what happened when this locomotive "raced" U.P.#844 up a canyon and had to stop for repairs while #844 inept on steamin' ahead. BullyBilly.

Oh no, you sound like a racist,,, LoL 😂, Check out my KZbin website at “Tshasta4449” for other steam and older diesel videos. I took a video in HD of steam engine #73 on the White Pass & Yukon narrow gauge in the rugged mountains of Alaska that includes drone footage.

Yes, 4449 had a lubrication problem on a main bearing, but got it fixed in 20 minutes. You forgot when 844’s boiler sprung a leak at the Sacramento Rail Fair in 91. She was towed home, 🥺
