Try and get yourself a second hand truck winch and attach it to your Genie lift. That's to much hassle doing that you won't feel like getting the bikes out. Excellent video Baron and to the little orange rapper.

Couple of safety chains over that opening would make that a heck of a lot easier. Could pull them across when you're unloading the bike upstairs too, just in case. Looks like a proper man cave though. Sofa/ TV/ Fridge, sorted! Als' fiancee could lose him for days in there! Congratulations on that too.

the trip has morphed somewhat and sadly no, mainly due to not being able to source insurance for him on either my bikes or manufacturer bikes OR on our 44t policy. I spent about a month trying to resolve it and just a brick wall.

I would get a small hoist installed in the rafters, strap a bike downstairs and hit a button to lift it up to the second floor. Easy and likely safer.

Whilst I'm thinking about it... how about you get the guard railing cut to fit over the forklift where it projects forwards from the riser. You can then lift the bike and position the forklift for unloading, then drop the guard rail back into place over the forklift before undoing the straps on the bike and potentially having it tip through the hole during unloading

Should put an inside rail on the lift platform, lest a bike tips in towards the hole once up top, wrap some foam padding on the rail. And for the love of all, get a welder to come in and set you up with an electric motor mounted to that lift.
