Testing out a .45 ACP load using a cast 200 grain Hensley & Gibbs 68 semi-wad cutter bullet and Accurate Arms No. 2 Powder. Test gun is a Norinco 1911.

I'm always surprised that the SWC style bullet feed so well in the 1911.

I cast a bunch of 200 grain flat nosed,out of straight wheel weights. Loaded with bullseye and #5. Two millspec Springfields, little iffy with factory mags, flawless with Wilson combat mags.

I've been casting the Lee 230g round nose. Works great in the Norinco and the SIG 220. Alox makes for quite a bit of smoke though.

Yeah lubed cast bullets do give a lot of smoke, and tumble lubed are especially smokey. Not really an issue outdoors, but for those shooting in indoor ranges it can be a bit of a problem.

Hey Dude, that H&G#68 is a great bullet, just about as accurate as you can get, Lee has a copy of that bullet in a six cavity mold, (X) ring accuracy with proper loads, good shooter at the 50 yard line. I have the Saeco (copy of the G&H#63) 170 gr in a four cavity, same shape, however, weighs less, I use it for the 25 yard line timed and rapid fire in NRA Bullseye. Btw, I have never shot your Norinco 1911 and don't know the trigger, But, I believe that the accuracy was standard and you were just free handing the gun. Maybe benching the pistol would help revile better groups. It gets to a place where Are we testing the gun or testing the ammo? anyway, Great video - Dave

Yeah, I was just standing unsupported shooting that group, certainly not great shooting, I was mostly interested in reliable operation and what the crono numbers were. Pretty happy with the results, I might up the charge very sightly. The Norinco trigger is certainly not match grade, but one must keep in mind that it cost $370 CDN new (about $271 USD), and for the money I have been pleased with it's function and accuracy. I really dont shoot it enough to get good with it.

@@314299 Norinco make a solid pistol, you simply can't beat what you get for the price, even at twice that cost. I had a hardball gun made off a Norinco Frame and slide, they are as hard as a whores heart. it was a great shooter, got 2 1/2 groups at 50 yards with it. Btw, in bullseye, that H&G design is what everyone shoots, mostly the 180 gr, however, the 200 gr shoots with equal results, but there is a little bit of recoil management that goes along with it. I use 700X for the 50 long line (4 grains), it is more of a push than a flip "Pow".. and for the 170's shot line I use Bullseye (3.6-8) or a W-231 load that equals the velocity. anyway, I as always, I enjoy your videos, keep up the content dude.
