It's nice to see in Steve's KZbin videos that when something goes wrong he goes through it on camera to help us as a viewer learn even more! Such a welcome change from a lot of guys on KZbin hiding their failures and trying to make everything look perfect first time!

So cool listening to one of the leaders in the industry and knowing he shows the good and the bad, as I do. It's gotten some flack from hatters but ultimately I can sleep at night and know I'll do everything within my power to make things right if it's my fault. I started HLP Products (specialize in the Honda/Acura V6 J-Series engine platform) on the side of my house on a paved concrete pad and a shed, now in a 1200sqft shop with some small machines and GOD WILLING we get to where Steve is. Fun to listen to the best and try to learn from them 🤙 I also been telling the J guys for DECADES that limiter is not good and is why we've taking even stock valve train components to such double to triple the stock power figures of these engines with zero issues...they mocked us and said you "always need to upgrade"...😑 In regards to the screw blower versus Turbo I believe at least in my brain it's from the direct force induction occurring right at the manifold or cylinder head essentially, being the screw blower is directly on top and usually takes the place of the intake manifold. That's verse a turbo with charge piping, with the same idea around less charge pipe equals a faster boost ramp

Awesome episode! My favourite so far by far! So informative and honest, something I love about Steve is he doesn't pretend to know everything whilst simultaneously being one of the most experienced, knowledgeable and intelligent guys in our industry! Would love it if you guys did a short course or episode covering the art of spark plugs! From choosing the correct temp, gap and reading alcohol fuels etc! My favourite podcast by far! Even puts the jre podcast into second place on my "to listen" list haha

Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed this one 😎 So far we just have this regarding spark plugs which will cover a bit of what you're asking for there, but for sure it would be great to perhaps dive into it a little deeper, or just perhaps break some of the topics up into some shorter content. Like a video on heat range only etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts/request/ideas! - Taz. www.hpacademy.com/previous-webinars/127-spark-plugs-essential-knowledge/?

$130,000 engine and no preheating? Seems like block heaters would be so easy. Electric water pump and a heater in the coolant swirl pot. Hell can't one go in the dry sump tank? Kill injectors n crank a few times. Hell there's the kind of heaters stuck on with putty too.

its not that its not possible, its the case of most guys wont use them. its no big deal on a typical drag car to plug in an oil heater while prepping a car in the morning (although this isnt common place in most drag race applications) however drag and drive is a different deal. a drag and drive program discussed here is a pile of work. when your done for the day at the track you have to change tires, many change shocks, swap fuel systems around, many lash valves to zero lash (when hot), pack up all your gear and head out. without issues some of these drives can take 8 or 10 hours, with problems you can be up all night. if you do happen to get some sleep, it wont be much, at the hotel in the morning you have to lash the valves again before you even fire the car (it wont start because zero lash hot is valves being held open when cold) and get to the track, change tires, shocks, fuel system, etc over before you can make a pass. what it comes down to, if a guy has to get up a half hour or more early to go drag the generator out of the trailer and sit there while the oil heats up, at some point they arent going to do it. the mantra of a drag and drive program, no matter how fast or slow it in, is keep it simple. in this case, if you can trade off the horsepower in pumping more oil volume to make one less thing that a sleep deprived 2 person race team can forget, its the way to do it.

We can give it a nudge! Is there anyone from the program you have seen around before that is well spoken and knows their stuff? It's OK if no one comes to mind, but if someone does it just helps Brad here to have a look and get the ball rolling. There are no shortage of awesome guests from this industry! - Taz.
