Those are wax seals, they go over the top of the ball, not between it and the powder. Wonder wads go between the ball and powder. I use the wax to seal for long term storage if I plan on leaving the gun loaded for long periods of time, ie hunting season. If you have the proper size balls no wad between the ball and powder is needed

I understand that, Just following the instructions on the packaging. Now if I was using powder instead of the pellets chances are this would not happen. Another thing the seals are supposed to do is to help lubricate the bore and keep the fowling softer making cleaning a little easier. Truth or just marketing, I don't know. Thanks for watching.

I bought a pair in a Black Friday sale at Cabela's. $308 tax included out the door. The salesman even found consecutive serial numbers. A blast to shoot. We do Cowboy Action Shooting and I shoot Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter.

Very cool, I have a pair that I nickel plated in my shop. Working on a 1860 Army Kit that I got from DGW last month, really cool project, its coming out nice. Yes Sir love BP, have since I was a kid back in the 70's. I only use my own home grown BP. cheap and clean. Carry on my friend. And protect the Republic.

Ok Ok Ok 1851 no .44 however there were 4 or 5 made for 1861, actually passed trial for Army, went to back burner for the Civil War, Government did not want to re-tool all equipment, while there was a need for guns, AWESOME video all the way around

The Griswold and Gunnison revolvers made for the Confederacy were in fact brass framed!

I not5iced that the gun in your right hand had several hang fires. It was noticeable that the hammer would fall you could hear the cap go off and a moment later the main charge would ignite.There are several possibilities and several solutions. If the greese cookie is somehow blocking the flash hole they can be cleared before you cap with a nipple pick. Perhaps better yet, stop using that material.. A new set of nipples might also be the solution as either the greese is somehow partially blocking the flash holes or those nipples are simply worn out.

I think it has to do with the Manhattan conversation done on that one. Only half of the hammer face is hitting the primer. Need to tig weld the hammer so it makes better contact with the primer. If you notice a lot of the flash is outside the gun. Thought I was almost rid of the pellets until I found another full can when I was putting powder away. Grrrrrr!

@@45AlfaCharliePapa Yep, as I remember that hammer face had a relief cut in it and when narrowed to fit through the Manhatten conversion it left only part of the hammer face. If you have a Tig welder it would be an easy fix but those of us without that fancy equipment might drill and tap it and put a plug screw in it.

The confederacy was way behind when It came to industrial capacity. The reason the feds used brass was because it was cheaper. You can cast brass where you have to work steel.

If these are Uberti pistols, why do you call them Pietta in the title?
@jamescrowe78924 жыл бұрын
Thank you for giving a bit off history on the '51. I don't know why Pietta & Uberti didn't do better research. I was able to find a replica Griswold & Gunnison Confederate revolver made by Pietta that was pretty historically accurate: brass frame, round barrel, no scroll work on the cylinder, .36 cal. But I think those are few & far between. It bugs me that they make a brass framed .44 cal with octagonal barrel & claim it is a replica Confederate revolver.

Nice! I think they did more market resurch than historical. So many Americans love a 44. Thanks for watching.

My girlfriend bought me two last night. A brass framed one and the steel franed engraved one. Was a 70$ diff.. between the two. Honestly though i wanted 44 caliber. Not 36.. so we got the 44s. We got the long barrel ones though. Short barrel looks weird to me I dont care if they arent 100% accurate either. They look the same to me so thats all i care about. The brass frame one is really pretty too
