Please, as a lifelong flooring contractor, i never used that “putty” in doorways and such. All you need is a multi tool with a sharp blade and a scrap chunk of flooring you can use to set your hight. Undercutting is so much cleaner of an install and as a professional its the only way we were allowed to install. I promise you will be so much happier if you do this

Great vid and well done on the stove apron. As a weekend warrior bricklayer myself, the thing I learned 40 years ago: “dry trial” any floor design to ensure proper fit before touching the mortar. Yep re the gloves- been there done that. 👍

This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list kzbin.infoUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

I really liked how you made the pattern for pedestal and was able to hide the holes. I was concerned that you were doing pedestal during the winter as you would be without heat but I did what my dad taught me and that was to sit back and watch and I saw you had already figured that out. This was a very good episode.

So glad to see that you placed the hot embers in a metal bucket and set it on the concrete outside your house. Several years ago, my nearby neighbor placed his bucket of hot embers on his workbench in his garage, and left the property to run errands with his wife. They came home an hour later to fire trucks blocking his street. His house was on fire, with flames bursting through the roof of the level above his garage!

On a soldier course like the front row of your work, use a story stick with the center of each brick marked. This makes it much easier to lay a soldier course that must be spaced between two fixed ends.

Just a tip, start your flooring on the longest wall that you can. It makes the room look bigger by the direction of the floor, but also it is the longest run for keeping the floor straight as you can to the rest of the room. If you start in the corner by the refrigerator, the floor could be far off from being straight by the time you're done.
@VelvetRedRoses4 жыл бұрын
Agree. It is very noticeable if it is off. No one notices how it looks under the fridge.
@dircia77544 жыл бұрын
I thought you should always start from a proper measured center of the space. So any odd space along the walls are minimize and isolated to the edges with any issues less noticeable.
@ang_1314 жыл бұрын
@@dircia7754, this was my understanding as well. Well, a combo of the two approaches. When flooring multiple rooms, start at the longest run you can and it’s probably in the middle of one or more rooms.

Real nice brick ‘stand’ for the stove. Working the floor from under the window is wise, no cut offs in full sight. Working from a corner could bring you troubles. Working from a straight ‘middle line’ leaves a straight result. Respect for the things you do, it also makes good videos t watch. Great job!

Little trick for lvl around door jambs. Take a chunk of the floor and use it to space up an orbital tool. Cut under the door frame. Then slide the flooring right under the door. It ends up looking super clean.
@wildbill23c4 жыл бұрын
That's how I do it now as well, and not just for LVL, it works for the laminate flooring as well, really for any flooring. The oscillating multi-tools are great for this stuff...I also use it for cutting out HVAC vent openings...I just mark on the wall the measurements where the vent opening is and mark it low enough that the baseboard covers it up that way after I get the flooring done I can quickly go back and cut out the vents then reinstall the baseboards.

Couple of suggestions. 1 - underlayment...vapor barrier. My office was a concrete floor we put vapor barrier and an underlayment under the flooring. Big difference. 2 - those metal fans that you put on top of wood burners seems to work great to push the heat to other parts of the room and garage.

Put rugs down where there is going to be heavy traffic, by the kitchen sink and doorways if not the floor will turn white in those areas, ~ experience btw get a couple extra boxes and store them away you will be glad you did.

agree with the extra flooring to store away. However our LVP has been down close to 4 years with absolutely no issues anywhere with discoloration etc. Love the brick.
@danielmarek46094 жыл бұрын
My wife and I used a similar product for our kitchen and hallways in the house. It is a high traffic area and knew we liked the wood look but also that wood wouldn't wear. What we ended up buying was a commercial grade flooring, such as you bought, but with a more brownish color. The floor has been in six years and shows no sign of wearing. We even extended that flooring into one of the bedrooms that we are using for an office. The flooring we used has a 10 year warranty in a commercial use but lifetime in a home. We also bought one extra box of the flooring in case we ever damaged a piece, so we had spares from the same build lot. You will love that flooring. The installers started from one wall and cut pieces at a random length to start with so the planks had a randomness. The only partial's were at the ends.
