What a charming young man. His appreciation of the kindness of the people he met in Scotland is heart-warming - and no silly pickiness about the wrong sort of tissues or whatever. Wanting to be pleased is a gift.

When going on solo hikes, it's recommended you notify your hotel proprietor, but also to leave a note in your car window stating when you started your hike, the destination, what you are wearing (color jacket) and when you intend to return. If someone finds the car unattended beyond the time you intended to return, they can sound alarm.

Coo, it looks a lot posher then when hubby and I went on the sleeper in the 80's! I'm a bottom bunk sleeper. I remember when we were nearing Fort William I looked out of the window and said, "Look at those goats; they're huge!" Hubby said, "They're stags...." What a wally!🤣

Oh how I love your vlogs. Hubby and I would love to do this same trip one day. My late mum and dad did the trip in the 50's with one of my late brothers on a motorbike and sidecar. They went to Fort William and even climbed Ben Nevis. Mum used to love telling me that story. Your fabulous vlog brought it all back because my dad used to work on the railway back in the old days. I love watching your vlogs in the afternoon on my tv. Thank you so much. Big hugs from your fans here in Mallorca Debra and Manoloxxxx ❤❤❤

Mr C, this was a wonderful watch I loved all of it, so beautiful so informative. I live in Melbourne Australia and have always enjoyed sleeper train travel all over the country, its really a lovely timeless way to go. It is lovely when the trip is a wonderful part of the journey.

Enjoyed that so much. I was in Fort William 11 months ago and it was freezing and Sunday so everywhere was closed. We were staying in Oban and visited Mull and Iona. I drove up to the north of Scotland in September and it was so hot! I I love Scotland and go every year. It is a very long drive and needs 2 full days to drive north. It is also nice to catch the train from Fort William to Kyle of Loch Ailsh and from there to Skye which is one of my favourite places. It is such a shame the weather was so awful on the second day but you don't go to Scotland for the weather!! The scenery is stunning and the food everywhere is so good. More of these please! Haste ye back! (Living in London it is easy to forget just how remote parts of Scotland are) It is such a wonderful place to refresh the soul away from the hustle and bustle of London and smell the fresh air!

I am astounded at that very precarious walk with crags, ice, steep, sudden, cliffs, winds and high wire act involved in seeing those falls!! Thank god you managed with all of that! Brave indeed!! I don’t understand that bridge or wire as part of a normal passage?! The train looked like fun on the way with the wonderful dining car and delicious menu with gourmet quality meals. It’s good to know all you get with regular class & perks with more money down. Nice details on the train a good preparation for a Japanese hotel if going abroad. The hotel room in Scotland was nice and welcomed in that unruly weather which you braved on that holiday away! The food fantastic and charity shops loaded with historic memorabilia. Thanks for sharing what can be truly described as your “ brave heart” experience with us! Well done.

Memories! Many moons ago (about 50+ years) I worked in Berkshire and remember making this overnight journey back home by sleeper train from London Euston to Inverness (north of Fort William). Leaving the hot, humid, stuffy atmosphere of Euston and waking up in the bracing fresh air of Inverness was just wonderful - refreshing is the word. I could breathe... The carriages were not nearly as upmarket in those days though! PS Very impressive tightrope walking skills!

What a great trip. I do love a waterfall and that one was spectacular. You were so right to abandon that bridge and avoid an accident in that area but kudos for giving it a try and the walk up was great, wish i'd known about that when i came up to walk Ben Nevis but after that the midges were so bad I didn't get to see much of the area before beating a hasty retreat. Was very interesting to see the overnight train experience. Good travel vlog as usual.

What a great trip, and what stunning scenery to greet you at the end! The only train overnighter to Scotland I've ever done, was on a ropey old Virgin train about 30 years ago. It was in the really uncomfortable upright seats and as soon as we left London the train was plunged into darkness, not even safety lights on! No reading light either. And a fight broke between out rival football fans, and the police had to be called. So that was interesting. Thanks, Iwan!
