My very first solo trip, AND my very first solo video (!!!!!). Thank you so much for joining me on this very special adventure. I hope to take myself on many more of these over the next few years. Next week, we are heading off to a state we haven’t showcased on this channel before, and we’ll be there for two weeks, filming a super exciting series for the autumn. That being said, we won’t have a new video until September 23! If you’d like to know where we’re going and what all we’re doing, follow us on Instagram for real-time updates. Otherwise, we shall see you in THREE WEEKS! 🥰

Way to go Claire. It's great to confirm and reinforce that you are a strong, independent, young asian woman. I've found that being the driver on solo road trips makes them far more interesting and now i know where I've been. When i was the passenger, i would fall asleep in the car and miss much and not know where we'd really been. So happy for your growth and also that Gretel enjoyed it too!
@ChadandClaire
@ChadandClaire 9 ай бұрын
Hahaha that is SO true!!! That number of naps I've taken in the passenger seat is too many to count! 😂It was really wonderful to be able to take in the drive from a completely different point of view, and to be awake and alert for the entire journey into the woods. I look forward to many more long distance drives on my own, and I'll certainly be bringing Gretel along with me on all those rides haha!!! 🥰

I love your vulnerability in this episode ❤ Thank you for sharing this trip, the female experience, and showing that independence is still valuable even when you are a part of a couple. Beautiful episode, beautiful nature. Thank you for all your videos. You inspire me a lot to think about what I need, how I can grown, and what I want to see in this world. Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us.

Thank you so much!!! 🤍This is so thoughtful and kind. I was extremely nervous to upload this video, just because it certainly does show a lot of my fears and insecurities as an individual. But, I am so glad I did share it, because the whole point of it was to connect with others in a way that could only happen through vulnerability. I really appreciate your support and the love that came with all your sincere words. 🥰

I totally get it! My husband and I travel together; travel without each other with our own close friends over a weekend; and travel alone to the old family holiday house. (He does it often now that he recently retired) Over the years and during the school holidays I sometimes would take the children there on my own (it’s a 4 hour drive) but now that they are in their 20’s, one of my favourite holidays was 2 years ago when I went there for 10 days on my own (I still have to take the school holiday breaks). My friend’s couldn’t understand it, but it was so nice to be silent and just cook simply (and less times), and go for walks twice a day, and to read….. Bliss! Thank goodness, my husband gets it.

Wow- 10 days!!! That is simply wonderful. I bet you felt so rested and replenished after that solo trip to the family holiday house. 😁 It really is wonderful to have a spouse that understands and supports solo trips. I am so happy that you both have this mutual understanding for it, and that I have a husband who sees the positivity in it as well! 🥰Your story is certainly inspiring to me, and I'll remember the good that solo trips have brought for you as I continue my journey with independent travel! 💓

@@ChadandClaire one other time was in January 2020 in Japan. After my daughter and I holidayed together in Finland, we were meant to have 3 weeks in Japan, but my daughter had to cut it short a week, so I continued on my own in Kyoto and then back to Tokyo and I was fine. I think I walked more! The only change I made was eating my main meal around 3 because I didn’t mind dining out on my own at that time, and then grabbed a snack meal at night to eat in my hotel room. It’s not the first time I have caught planes on my own though. Travelling interstate in Australia to visit my sister, or extended family in Finland, and back and forth between Sydney, and Singapore and Tokyo from years living In those countries was something I just had to do. With all your experiences in travelling, I know you can do it too 💪

James and I love one another deeply, and our 20 years are a testament to that. But, as two individuals, we are also different in many ways. I'm more adventurous while he's more introverted. So, while we enjoy vacationing together, I take some solo trips too. We joke that I'm more of an outside cat, while he's more of a house cat.😂 it doesn't mean we're growing apart, but, rather, the freedom we extend to one another makes our relationship stronger. We remain completely devoted and true to one another, but solitude is important at times, and solo travel is our occasional gift to one another. Continued courage and peace to both of my favorite summertime elves. Peace! Steve and James

I had 7 days off in-between my nursing shifts so I went on a random trip north from Florida. I ended up in 4 states. I spent time in Savannah, GA, including Tybee Island, Asheville, NC, then off to nearby Chimney Rock state park. I also spent some time in your state. I even stopped at a random Whole Foods for lunch and to get snacks and saw Chad. I didn't introduce myself because he was working and it seemed inappropriate. Off to Nashville where I inspired a nursing student (I'am a nurse, so I gave him some advice) who works at Tru Food Kitchen. He got a $10.00 tip to help out with school. Then off to Kentucky to visit Mammoth Caves! I get back to work and told another nurse about my trip and she asked if I went to all those places alone? Of course, I said. One time I went for a drive and ended up in Arizona at the Grand Canyon. There is some meditative value and great sense of freedom of just getting out there traveling without too much of a plan or purpose. When my wife was alive, some of the best and happy times we shared together was on many of the road trips we took together.

Whoa- what a wild and spontaneous trip!!! It's so cool that you got to see Chad in real life hahaha. 😂 I absolutely love hearing about your 7-day solo adventure and how you said yes to something so random. You got to see SO many places during that one week! Some of the greatest and most memorable trips are the ones that weren't previously planned, and it truly is up to us to go for the adventure. It's inspiring to hear that you're continuing to travel and venture the nation, even after the passing of your wife. I'm sure that she wouldn't have wanted it any other way. 🤍Wishing you all the very best as you continue to take random trips here and there, and a sincere thank you for all that you do as a nurse!!! 🥰

If I'm being honest, the nights did get a little spooky, but I simply just went inside and locked the doors after an hour or two by the fire! It got REALLY dark in the woods at night hahaha. You should definitely give that trip to the lakeside cabin a try! It sounds extremely peaceful and serene, and I'm sure the fall season will bring splendid weather in Ireland. You can cozy up in the cabin, and relax! 😁

This was an exceptionally good video, Claire. To do everything by yourself was amazing. Although, the cabin that you were in was real cool, I am concerned that a attractive woman like yourself should not be staying by herself in such an isolated environment such as the tiny cabin in the middle of the woods. Although you had thousands of KZbin fans supporting you, I feel that there must be a better way to test your driving abilities than by staying by yourself alone in a tiny cabin in the middle of the woods.
