Gabby Petito documented her road trip cross-country with her fiance before she was reported missing on September 11th. Now her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, is a person of interest in the case. CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan joins CBSN with the latest for "48 Hours."
Crime. Social justice. Impact. "48 Hours" investigates the most intriguing crime and justice cases that touch on all areas of the human experience including greed and passion. "48 Hours," which premiered in 1988, has developed a rich history of original reporting and impact journalism that has helped exonerate wrongly convicted people, caused cold cases to be reopened and solved, and along the way changed lives.

And that wouldn't have cost extra tax money to do. But now somehow he slipped away in the dark with all that media outside somehow.... and now they are spending massive amounts on resources to find him. So I think taking 2 cops off street patrol to watch him would have been a lot better. But now I really dont think Brian was at the house at all. I don't know how his parents could be so cruel. The inhumanity is distressing…Gabby lived with them and they're denying her grieving parents closure by refusing to tell them where Brian is. I fear though, that the panic and desperation will be so great that he'll off himself (if he hasn't already) and we'll never really know what happened or why.
@Teetee-kp3ph

They don’t think they are being cruel. They just think they are protecting their son, who may have convinced them that it was a accident or self defense (and it could have been). Clearly Gabby was abusing him and was almost arrested for her domestic abuse. Her van, her career, her money, her fans showering her with the praise she needed, her rules. Brain was the dog in this relationship where everything revolved around her. Brian didn't even get to have a phone, much less a job, thus isolating him as abusers usually do. She beat on him for hours that day because he hadn't cleaned the van for her, entered with dirty feet, and moved her food. He wasn't to touch her food.

@@abram730 Brian should have been man enough to walk away from this sorry relationship a long long time ago for his own sanity. It takes two to make or break a relationship. Funny how people like the two of them find each other. None of us will ever know exactly how things went down since none of us were there. All media most certainly is slanted, that I'll definitely agree to, but that's nothing new or surprising. And everybody these days is a psychiatrist, doctor, crime fighter, judge, jury, etc. Lol.

Good story until it turned 'RACIAL.' Everything isn't about race. This story has garnered so much attention due to the Social Media aspect as well as the circumstances itself...i.e. so called fiance driving home in her van and not reporting her missing for days, they were previously pulled over and whole incident caught on police body cam, his parents participating in covering up for their son. There are a lot of just interesting pieces to this entire unfortunate matter. Only people who see race in everything are usually racist themselves.

Rose Davis, 21, of Sarasota, described Laundrie as a controlling and manipulative boyfriend, in one incident stealing Petitio’s ID so she wouldn’t be able to go out to bars with her. Petito had described the strange episodes to Davis, which at times forced Petito to sleep at her house. “He’s got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these ‘episodes,’ where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn’t sleep,” she told the outlet.

She looks so scared in the police video... it makes me want to cry too.... when I see it I feel like she was scared for her life and didn’t know it. What happened is, women aren't safe in this world. Two days before Gabby's body was found, Sabina Nessa, another fine, young woman pursuing life left her house for a 10 minute walk to meet a friend and was attacked and murdered in a park in London. Women can't take a damn walk, you're asking what happened to Gabby. She was ignored and silenced by a society that blames her for being attractive.

Please don’t make this a brown and white thing . I truly believe that anyone that had been using social media to record their CrossCountry trip and something like this happened, I truly believe anyone would have got the same treatment. I am sure there are many black and white girls that have been killed and none of us have heard anything about it. The only difference is they were putting this trip on social media. Please address both sides on how many black , white , brown , Chinese and any other race that wasn’t recorded . I assure you there are many , the only difference is they had been on social media through it all. I hate when we don’t consider all the circumstances and make it about race . That needs to stop and we all need to come together . When we are divided we fall , but together we can stand .

What kind of reporting is this!??? If you watch the video, you’ll see that Gabby DOES tell the police officer that Brian slapped her across the face when she was sitting in the back of the van. She even tried to show him where, but he’s not too interested and quickly dismisses it because he’s already made buddies with Brian and believes his side of the story. She also denies grabbing the steering wheel causing the accident, which again is dismissed because they believe Brian.
