The Wasteland Survival Challenge is simple: start with a meager kit, the other 99% of your kit is what you find, make or modify. We catch and cook some pretty great meals! We challenge our fellow KZbinrs Junkyard Fox / junkyardfox and Smooth Gefixt / @smoothgefixt to take the challenge on next!

If you add Thai chillies it will take the stew to a whole another level. Awesome to see others appreciate Hmong food! Also keep the old ways alive and that H silent in "Hmong." Love the videos.

Great video Kevin! During the energy boom here in WY you could find all kinds of treasures along the highways. The last couple of years I was working I found several Vise Grip pliers, Electrical pliers, a 6" Wilton vise, screwdrivers, totes with camping gear that must have fallen off someones trailer. It was just crazy !

I love slingshots! Ground squirrels are one of the few things you can take with a slingshot in California. 9 or 10 mm lead splitshot is lethal to small game. The more spherical the better.

Dr Kevin salutations. I'm from a beautiful tropical island 🏝️ Trinidad. Fishing 🎣 and camping gears, are way beyond the means of an ordinary chap. So enjoying the outdoors, besides partial food, one really has to do a survival 🏕️ trial. Using the forest for every needs. So learning from you is my greatest asset to try my first attempt. You're my inspiration. I'm binge watching.

I love this. Loved that you did it with your bro. Dr. Kevin you inspire the shit of me, and it’s refreshing to see other people hold value in random things they find. Also loved the end when you were asking about how to say Hmong. And all the cool things you said about those folks. Unfortunately up here in siskiyou you hear not the best about them. And I for one have no issue with them but a lot of people here just think all they do is grow illegally and harm the environment. Super cool to hear dr. Kevin with his refreshing take. You also inspired me to do some knapping and I am very very rough but thanks to you I have a good idea. I can go on and on.

Sho Sho, Unfortunately, I believe you would only legally be able to do that for crayfish in CA. I am pretty sure the regulations require closely attending fishing devices and traps are not a legal means of take for fin fish.

What is the law with pellet ammo. Has to be steel or copper?
@catchncookcalifornia1574

In some counties it does have to be lead free (I believe). However, the led free ban in CA currently only applies to firearms and therefore pellet rifles are exempt.

Out of curiosity, what is the viability of taking acorns and fermenting them into a miso-like paste? I imagine due to the low protein content, you may have to augment it with squid or something like that, but it would be an interesting experiment
