In Switzerland ladybugs stands for luck. Most of the time we use the chocolate ladybugs as decoration on birthday parties, new years eve or on 'get well soon' cards. So if somebody in Switzerland gives you a chocolate ladybug, he wants to say good luck or all the best.

Number 8, the dudes in suits drinking. It is customary that after long or all-day business meetings to have a closing Aperitivo or dinner for some relaxed networking. After work drinks is very common here. Oh No! you tried all those things and nobody told you to try Rivella :(

6:58 this is a game that in German is called Mühle (mill/windmill). The games are unrelated to the church, in this case the Bern Minster. In fact, there are other places in Bern that have such games, best known probably the ones on Bärenplatz (the square with a number of restaurants just opposite the parliament building, with no church in sight whatsoever), where there’s always a group of elderly men playing chess. 18:01 This confused me a bit and I’ve never seen it in this context. Notches are sometimes found on smaller plates and are meant to hold the wine glass. They are usually provided at functions with a buffet where no seating is provided stand because standing and holding both the plate and the wine glass (with no hand free to eat) would be awkward. 20:14 The name Sinalco comes from Spanish „sin alcohol“ (pronounced the same way). The coke is a newer invention; they’re mostly known for their orange soda. 23:57 Rapeseed oil and alpine salt. The default chips flavour in Switzerland is definitely paprika, though.

Sinalco is German. But the Swiss Sinalco is the only one that is not bottled in Germany. Rivella is the real national drink. The founder of Rivella was a German and he brought the recipe from Germany. The company is still family-owned. Probably the only drink that could taste similar to the original Fanta. Although Fanta at the time contained apple residue and fruit juice concentrate, which Rivella does not have. Although there is now a bit of variety at Rivella.

LOL you two are hilarious and adorable and I love your quirky humor because it's pretty much just like mine. 1. Are the crosswalk signals that much different from those in Portugal, other than the figures are positioned side-by-side instead of top-and-bottom? 2. The only toasters I have seen in Europe are more like toaster ovens, where you lay your bread flat on a rack and slide it in. Never saw one with vertical slots! 3. At first I thought you said the sign in the train station was "No Children On The Stairs." 🤣🤣🤣 4. "Die" in German is pronounced "dee" and is the feminine gender "the" but only in nominative and accusative cases, or for plural masculine or feminine nouns in those cases. That's about all I can recall from my two years of German in high school 50 years ago. Very confusing rules for such a simple word to a native English speaker! 5. I've been served a lemon half in gauze or similar fabric in the US at fancy seafood joints a handful of times, but yeah, it's rare. 6. "Rot" in German is pronounced like "wrote" in English. "Bad" in German is pronounced "bahd" and means bath or spa. Often kind of a prefix for resort towns in Germany.

8:25 Pronounced in German like «Dee». 13:27 Doggy Dump Bags is actually a Swiss invention by Joseph Rosenast who invented the «Robidog» in 1981. 16:20 Pretty cool. It was 15h45 or 3h45 PM. Remember, country of Time ;) 20:10 Sinalco was well pronounced. It's originally from... Germany. 24:00 Rapsöl is Rapeseed oil. I hope my home country and my fellow citizens treated you well and made you felt welcome (they'not always used to and it often looks like «don't care about you», when it's rather «I don't want to bother you and respect your privacy»).

We found it delightful and the people were quite caring. In fact, we showed up at a place a day early because we'd goofed up our plans and they had no rooms left, and we were helped by several Swiss and were able to get a ride from a local to an amazing cottage hotel.

Swiss here, this was i funny list Some explanations 05 These white sidewalk Guide ines are in fact for Visual impaired people. You find them mostly in Bigger cities and in trainstations. 09 „burning man sign“ these is to direct people (for example in case of Fire) 😮to the next Exit of the Building (because there Are 4 different languages (plus english) its sometines easier to put a Sign instead of a „exit“ Text😊 16 The big Play at the church is a Kind of Mill Play (i found also this translation: nine men's morris) on many big Place Like near the Bundeshaus in berne there are also big Chess Games for everyone to play 40 schlüferli is a Kind of Fried Cookies mostly eaten around christmas and in carneval Season. the Name means something like Loop through Thx

#11 these are doors from old elevators. The hinged door being the old original ones. While riding the elevator you had the doors and floor sections passing by in front of you. Due to safety regulations they had to add the closing doors later. #18 Die is pronounced dee #23 These basement shops are particular to Bern and region. These were originally used in medevial times as warehouses, nowadays mostly stores, bars etc. You wont find them in other cities. #24 These nice frameworks are in deed nice and not usual. Bern being very touristic, they try to look neat, even at the construction sites. You may see them paneled with boards in other cities, but not as nice as these. #29 Switzerland not being part of the european union, has it's own currency #38 Not only the look of the receipts can be fancy but also the prices... #41 Sinalco is an old swiss brand (1905) of a lemonade with a blend of orange, lemon and tangerines. Didn't know that they have also coke flavors now. Sinalco is a wordplay meaning without alcohol "Sin" from spanish / latin, meanung without Potato chips: The herb flavored ones "Provencale" comes from "Provence", the south of france, known for it's mediterranean herbs. Chocolate bar: Torino is the italian name of the italian city Turin. Don't think it has any meaning besides sounding fancy for a chocolate bar.

Goddammn dude is that the Grossmünster Church behind you there? You must be absolutely loaded if you live there. Nuts. I pretty much got displaced myself but then, I'm quite glad I left that place actually, I don't miss the city or the people really. So it's all yours. You do live very close to a great store though if you're into specialty foods, teas or coffee and that sort of thing ("colonial goods", Schwarzenbach in Niederdorf, highly recommended). Also, a lot of the stuff you mention is so D1 Zürich (Kreis 1). It's a bit a closed microcosm in many ways. It's a different Switzerland to the one most people live in (not necessarily in a good way, lol). And there's only one real chips (crisps): Zweifel Paprika. Also, Möhlsaft without alcohol is better than with. Thank me later. Godspeed.
