Um Wildes, Josh Allen scored 13 points against the Jets. The Patriots scored 13 points against the Jets. Mahomes scored 23 points against the Jets (and only 6 points after the 1st quarter) and they held Hurts to 14 points (7 of which was highly questionable). That’s impressive in this NFL environment

That's an incredible point! And that's the whole reason they were in the SB conversation with Rogers at QB and look at what their D is holding teams to! If Rogers didn't get hurt they would be an extremely scary team! And then Nick would be crying Patty's not gonna even make it to the SB! And without their 2 starting CBs they held the Eagles to that, imagine them having both of them and Rogers?

@@UndeadCzar The Jets and Dallas are two of the teams that will never get the benefit of the doubt because the narrative will always be negative against them. Trust me, as a long time Jet fan it's always been that way, and it seems to be that way now with Dallas because the talking heads have swung to the new blood dominating the league. Both teams are talked about even when they don't do anything, and also talk too much so that's their recipe to pile on. I wish Saleh and Rex back in the day would keep their mouths shut. But you know what? They're sometimes baited into it because the media cuts so deep ALL the freakin time in this town. This past week everyone had to keep answering questions from the largest assembled media in the league about why the Jets had never beaten Philadelphia in 12 games spread across fifty years. At some point I'd imagine you get tired hearing all the negativity. So we know these guys hate the Jets. So be it. In terms of yards against, is that a metric to measure how good the Jet defense is? Their offense cannot sustain drives. They're getting better, but part of being a great defense in this era is complementary football. The OPs point about points against is the true measure. At least the offense has helped in terms of limiting turnovers and short fields.

When Purdy throws 250 and 4 TDs, Nick will always say he wants him to face adversity vs a good defense without his weapons. I think the point they were trying to make was. Up by two. 2 minutes left no timeouts, instead of just running the clock and the ball. Playing it safe till they could just kneel or had to punt it. They instead risked it by throwing it and paid. Yes, that throw cost them the game. Still only happened because of a coach's bad call for what would have been a win.

I actually think he showed exactly what we’ve wanted: the ability to win games while trailing facing adversity. Through bad weather, refball, dropped passes, on the road against a good-great defense, he still did his job and put his team in a position to win regardless of how ugly it may have been. Is Purdy “great” or MVP-caliber? Likely not. Is he good enough to win when given an adequate supporting cast? Absolutely.

Same, just to see how Nick would move the goal post on Purdy again. Purdy had a bad game, even considering the weather, injuries, and Clevelands #1 def, yet he did the one thing Nick asked, late in the game and down, drive the field without key weapons to overcome adversity and would have if not for the FG slightly wide right. A 40 yd field goal in an outside stadium in October in the Midwest is anything but guaranteed, The fact is this perdy didn't get them in field goal range Brandon Aiyuk did, He only completed 5 yd passes on that drive the only difference is that Brandon broke 1 for 25, If Purty could have completed more than a 5 yd pass maybe they could have attempted a more makable 30 yd field goal instead of 41, You take that exact same kick move it app 10 yd and it goes right down the middle

@@terrythegnome2408 yep. Nick is actually surprised that a human is fallible. This will not be his last loss and he will probably lose by a bigger margin in his playing days. Joe Montana, when he began the QB, struggled as well. Also, I don't get it that Nick is surprised that the niners struggled when their best weapons were out. You need good players to succeed. Terry Bradshaw struggled before he got harris, and his WRs and his steel curtain got re-inforced before they became great. And even when they were already great, they still lost games.

If you look up the definition of a double standard in the dictionary, Nick's face shows up😂. Seriously though, Purdy has the exact scenario Nick wants to see him in: terrible game against a top defense, losses his best weapons, and has to play from behind. Purdy has ALL OF THIS happen to him and has the game-winning drive Nick wanted to see, but because the 9ers didn't win, NOW the goalposts move. It's his FIRST TERRIBLE LOSS; give the guy some slack.

But now yall beat Philly so now they are recognizing that the Jets actually are good. For me its every team Dallas beats the media will say that team is the worst and thats the only reason why they won, rather than give any credit. It isn’t about ‘putting them on his back,’ you don’t need to be Tom Brady to put together a few drives to get your team in a spot to win. Unless they were down by 30+ at the half, which few QB’s would be expected to be able to carry the team in that position. Mccaffrey and Deebo went out and they still had a whole team of talented players and all pros to get the ball to, and a QB who plays a supporting role to get the ball out to them is perfectly fine. I believed Purdy would come back and get them in field goal range and he did. I believed Purdy would rally and play better to try and get them back in the game even at the beginning when the injuries happened and he did. People get so caught up on being impressed by a flashy performance when at the end of the day it’s just about doing whatever you have to. I believed in Purdy and still do. I also believe relatively few QB’s with less than 20 overall NFL starts would succeed in those conditions. The kid has room to grow and improve with every start and rep. This game was good practice for him. Dak, Allen, and Jalen are allowed an F game or two and I think he should be allowed one. I also think comparing this F game to the ones they’ve had so far, he made less mistakes and the game was closer and he was facing a much tougher defense with more in game adversity than they were vs the Cardinals, Jets, etc.

How could he put them on his back when he was running or on his back most of the time because that Browns defense was after him the whole game so once again if that was Tom Brady he would be running for his life and not a big fourth-quarter comeback especially being Tom Brady couldn't move... there's a difference between not playing well and being smothered

You could say the Lions exposed Patrick Mahomes in week one without Kelce or receivers who could catch the ball. Lamar only looked great because the Browns QB kept turning the ball over and giving the Ravens a short field. The 49ers kicker missed two field goals in that game and there were two iffy calls against the 49ers in the last Browns drive. Despite that, Purdy still had the team in a position to win the game. Not bad for someone who hasn’t even played a whole season.

Purdy's bad day wasn't even that bad. Like 50% completion and 1 TD for 1 INT. Yeah, it's a bad day. Not a devastating day though. It isn't like he went out there and threw multiple picks. 1 TD for 1 INT is basically Justin Field's whole career lol. What happened to the narrative that this Niner's team can carry an average QB? Apparently they can't win unless Purdy is throwing dimes every play? Clearly they rely on him more than Nick wants to admit. Purdy had a bad day and the Niners looked bad. Purdy has great days and the Niners look like the best team in the league. Purdy is running this team, that much is sure.

Nicks take on Purdy has to be the one of his worst take ever. Mainly because he tried to compare a miss interception on the first drive to a missed field goal at the end of the game. If the ball is picked, they have an entire game remaining to play. A missed field goal on your last drive of the game, you literally cannot make up for that. I repeat, you cannot make up for a missed game winning field goal on the last drive of the game.
