great video! Made rebuild very easy. getting the pin out of the gear is by far the most daunting part of the process. I didn't drill it out- I used a Dremel to grind out the mushroomed ends, then used a gear puller to pull the gear off the shaft, and then use a chain breaker tool to remove the rest of the pin out of the shaft.

there is also a tdc mark on the cam underneath the oil cap.

27:10 what dots are you meaning? The gear's dot with the "big hole" in the distributor body or the "small hole" in the distributor body? Thanks m8 and great vid ;)

The gear's "indent/dot" (not the roll pin), and the indent/dot on the dizzy body.

What kind of grease was that Timkin stuff? Wheel bearing grease or?

Any translucent mutipurpose grease will be fine

@@CMAutohaus Thanks, I was going to rebuild my distributor out of my 20V Blacktop engine, but I understand it is a bit more complicated that 16V ones? Have you ever done a 20V one?

@@nzuncovered1845 Yes and I'll never do it again. The end gear is so brittle so that we broke it pressing the roll pin out. Had to weld the gear back together. The roll pin is so tough that you cannot drill it out either like the 16v

@@CMAutohaus Weird, they must have designed it so you have to replace the entire thing. Mine doesn't even have a gear it is like a piece of metal with two prongs so you can only install it 2 ways 180 degrees apart, are they all like this? I think the bearing is ok and it is not leaking from inside the shaft so i just cleaned it well and put a new O ring in it and seems fine, no weird noises or leaks now.

@@nzuncovered1845 Just they are all just 2 prongs and yes they can go on in the wrong direction on reinstall.

as long some friends and i tried handmade headers needed to remove distributor more than 1 time... even when we left sign . the handmade neck of it turned and we lost 3 times the possition...... the one friend had an idea... trying to find timing . when hand turn engine by pulley until a piston reaches top up.. a long screwdriver on the hole of a sparkplug might tell when its top up!!! then connect again. and fire it up until find sparks . the distributor has some retarding percent anyway, turning it with hand until hear engine work smoothier ((carefull about the sparks hits to the bone if passes through you)).!!! but it needs at least 2 people to give it a try .. i dont remember the 100% of process.. but until now i didnt take it to my mechanic for correction.. Yup some missfire exists but we made a good adjustment manualy for take the car back with not even correct tools to do it!!!!! i guess its the old good way to find timing and adjust~~

harbor freight doesn't show them any longer. is it just one of the tools used for removing bike chain pins? or something else?
