This reminds me of the dark ages of the mid to late 1970s when power was extremely hard to come by. I had a little Datsun truck with a 2 liter 4 cylinder. As a kid of 17 I spent a summer removing all the crap that sucked power out of the engine and replaced the tiny 2 barrel carb with twin Weber 45s like the ones in the video along with a ton of other stuff. It was probably a good thing that I didn't know how in depth all of what I did was actually going to be. If I had known I doubt I would have started at all. Looking back I'm very glad that I did it though. . After I was done I was able to eat Porsche 914s and 924s, Ford Capris and Mazda RX-7s for lunch all day, every day.

@burkie1990 Not quite, here's a brake down. The E in 4A-FE is for electronic injection, the F is for economy or narrow angled valve head. The G in 4A-GE is for wide angled valve. Both share the same bore and stroke and that is where the similarity ends really. Carburettor versions lacked the E, so it would be 4A-F. C does not stand for carburettor however.

4A-GE 20v are the 4th and 5th gen, and they are 2000cc, not 1600. The 1st and 2nd gen were used in RWD Corolla, while the 3rd gen (Redtop) was used in FWD Corolla. The 91 model Corolla GTi that sold in my country, Indonesia, used 3rd gen 4A-GE with 16 valves and fuel injection. I don't know about the 1st gen, but the 2nd gen used fuel Injection. However, many modifiers prefer to change 4A-GE injection system into carburetor system to increase the power.

You're right buddy. I didn't realize "TWINCAM 20" letter on the engine means 20 valves, I thought that was "2.0" that means 2000cc. I've asked my friend in Jakarta who used 4A-GE 20v in his Starlet, and he said that's 1600cc class (in exactly 1587). Thank you very much for your correction.

carbs have high response because its all mechanical ie quick revving and throttle control but dnt have the fine tuning that FI which is electronic. performance wise FI is better but reliability and ease of tuning and repair carb is better Silvertops are FI so itbs would be the logical choice but u could make it switch it to carbs if u wanted to.

its a 4age 16v it comes with a carb ...there's a 4age 20v that's the fuel injected with itbs. read more about 4age...the one on the video is just a 1st gen 4age ..the one your talking about is the 3rd gen which is the 20v.
