This is why I watch your content over any other nail channels. I love that you are real and speak for what YOU feel is right. I am a mother of 4. I have 3 daughters and a son who was AFAB. I worry about them and the world as it is now every single day. I spent 11/6 curled up with my anxiety meds fighting a panic attack and have spent every day since trying to plan our exit from one of the reddest states in the country. Hi Marla! I appreciate your vulnerability. I am a Christian and have been following you for a couple years now. I love your content and listening to you. While I don’t agree with the views you expressed, it doesn’t change how I feel about you and that goes for anyone else in my life who expresses views that are different than mine. I still love you and wanted to share that I also have struggled with severe anxiety and depression throughout my life. The one thing that has truly transformed me is my relationship with Christ. He gives me peace when I need it most, has helped me heal from sexual abuse, loss of loved ones to suicide and so many more struggles. I am praying for you and will continue to follow you and watch your content. Thanks for what you do. ❤

Hi Marla! I don't usually comment but as a former anxiety girly and full blown ADHD girly who is originally from NY, I felt compelled to reach out. Pre-election my anxiety was taken care of by my non-stimulant extended release ADHD medication. Post election, I avoid social media and highly curate the news I expose myself to. I'm fortunate that my job is in education so I spend a lot of time working with kids from Kindergarten through high school, and I recently did a learning session with a group of college students. Turns out teaching is my happy place. Lately, I'm relaxing my brain by watching nail videos, which I haven't done since the pandemic lock downs. So thank you for helping me with a relaxing distraction. Wishing you success in your new career and happiness with whoever you choose to be with.

I’m so sorry about your relationship! I felt so bad the other day because I commented on your video on Halloween saying “happy wedding day” I’m so sorry, i had no idea that that relationship went down the drain. However I’m glad you stood up for yourself and broke it off instead of allowing him to abuse you. Lord willing you will find a man who will love and cherish you, don’t give up hope, not all men are bad! I also got horrible anxiety about the election, it was horrible, I didn’t sleep for a week before it went off. I do however a secret for how to cope with it. I’m a Christian and Jesus is my everything, if it wasn’t for God I would be off the rails. I listened to hymns and I PRAYED. Staying off social media is great too lol, just taking a breather from all the craziness. Love this nail design!❤❤

I have ADHD, and was just diagnosed last year. I'm 56. Perimenopause makes the symptoms much worse! I did a lot of research and then tried a stimulant ADHD med. I bawled the very first time I tried it because my mind was quiet for the first time in my life. I've had a good (life changing, really)experience with these meds. My anxiety is better, I have more peace, my emotional regulation is so much better, and I can multitask again. That's MY experience, of course. They're not right for everyone. I hope and pray you find what works for you!❤

@MarlaKris I tried nonstimulants and they did nothing, so I tried Focalin. I went really slowly with the dosage, starting at 5mg. 20mg is what works best for me. It is still a pain to get the meds sometimes, but they help me so much it's worth it. When you're researching, just know that people either love the meds or think they are from the devil. 😂 The articles and videos all have their opinions and agendas. I had to emotionally disconnect from the election results and clear my algorithm socially. I told my family and friends ‘I’m ‘tapping out’…. I had to or I’d make myself sick & I thought why should I be miserable while others are living their best lives? So, I decided as I ‘tap out’ for the next 4 years, I’m going to live MY best life, unapologetically and to the best of my ability. We’ve lived through this before and I trust we’ll get through this also. Question… Have you tried magnesium glycinate? It’s great for anxiety and has done wonders for me… 52 yrs old here. Hang in there, focus on what makes YOU FEEL HAPPY SAFE AND FULFILLED and CONGRATS you on your new opportunity.

I can relate to your struggle with the "fun" combo of ADHD with anxiety/major depression (I'm on a high dose of Prozac with a Vilazodone topper, stimulants for the ADHD do NOTHING for me either). My body has been in full-on mourning mode since the election. It's eerily like when my dad died last summer. I live in one of the darkest blue of solid blue states (NY), but my heart is still broken for everyone everywhere right now who will be hurt by upcoming changes, and driving 5 minutes out of my suburb still has plenty of conservatives. I am a mom to 3 kiddos, all special needs but 2 are VERY on the autism spectrum. The lack of care and respect shown to the Education Department is freaking us special needs parents OUT. Friend!!! I need to tell you how much of a comfort this video gave me. So many other content creators I follow have shied away from politics or have gone back in the closet. While I empathize with them wanting to feel secure due to all the anxiety going around, I'm torn because I feel like if those of us who can speak out don't, then we're harming others in our communities. I've been torn between my own anxious desire to bury under the blankets and disappear, and my passion for equality/social justice and advocacy which has only grown the last 8 years. If those with platforms aren't utilizing them to make a positive difference, it gets frustrating. I've been playing with the idea of starting my own channel again for the 8 millionth time. So thank you for being you and speaking up! As a fellow ADHDer with more physical anxiety symptoms and being deep in the LGBTQIA+ community - welcome! Side note: not to give medical advice, but something you might discuss with your mental health provider is adding Wellbutrin (if you haven't already tried it, that is). It's used off label for ADHD and also boosts the effects of other meds, meaning you get more symptom relief with fewer side effects. I used it off label to help my depression/anxiety and to lessen the ADHD symptoms while I was seeking diagnosis. Also, while I know Adderall can make the anxiety worse for some, it definitely helps mine. It calms me down and actually put me to sleep for the first few weeks while I acclimated to it 😅 but no, I don't have ADHD at all /s Like you I also have been getting back into my creative hobbies to help ease my mind and stress. Painting, crochet, reading, writing, random Pinterest projects... It all helps a little bit.

Hey GF, wow,. we could be twins. Some of the things I'm doing to protect my mental health after the disaster election: NO MORE NEWS = no newspaper or tv news or cnn or whatever, for the next four years. I'm sticking my head in the sand and not coming up until then. I'm doing my art (jewelry, gardening, nails), and working out and trying to eat well and get sleep. I also suffer from anxiety and have increased my meds. I stay away from alcohol, which only increases my anxiety and insomnia. Hang in there, somehow we're going to get through this. And even though I'm really too old to be dating or in a relationship, 4b is awesome and I've been doing that for a few years now anyway. My own Jack & Dianne story was from a time before we knew about concepts like gaslighting, love-bombing, walking on eggshells, etc. So MY Dianne ended up marrying Jack...and it was a n abusive disaster that messed her up for years. I'm so proud of Your Dianne for being smart enough and self-possessed enough to get out before more permanent damage was done. You can move on from this.

Where do I begin...? I can identify with most of what you have described. Anxiety is killing me. As an LMHC, I use CBT to help (along with Ativan). With symptoms both emotional and somatic (generalized body pain, digestive issues....) i use Cymbalta. The election was astonishingly hurtful and ridiculous. I've decided to devoutly ignore the next four years, as at 64 I do not have the luxury of saying ' it'll go fast.' The last time felt like mourning a death or something. Now I just laugh at the daily stupidity. As far as peri-menopause/menopause, I would not recommend hormone treatment. My tx resulted in breast cancer. I think you are a beautiful soul, very real and brave. You were so smart not to burn away your youth on a person who isn't fit to hold your jock!! Please try to stay in the present, only listen to positive messages, surround yourself with the pure of heart and advocates, and always listen to your inner voice. Like myself, you strike me as being spiritual/intuitive, and not religious. Commune with your higher power when the load gets too heavy. And, when in doubt, do nothing. It will come to you... Finally, if meant to be, she will come to you like mine came to me, naturally, like a breeze... the love of my life, 18 years now, my wife. I'll follow your channel as long as you create it. 😊❤

I welcome you to the lgbtq+ community. Lol consider yourself as having the invitation. Personally, I'm pan as I don't care much about parts, I vibe with the soul over physical parts. Lol And I stick around for the fun and commentary moreso than the nails as I'm a gelly person due to acrylic products don't play nice with my nails. I just haven't been super active in watching or fb lately after taking a year off of social media for let's just say "; reasons". So mentally, I had to unplug from everything and focus on not trying to unplug myself. And unfortunately, current events has caused those things to kinda creep back up. Just focusing on the things that make me happy like a good soak in the tub, going for a walk, gardening, and chilling with my grand-kitty. It helps to focus on the the little things.

I take a daily medication, but have emergency medication to take as needed and I’ve had to take them regularly for the last week and a half. Any suggestions: whether I use dip powders, gel polish, etc basically anything that goes on top of my nails- it all lifts within a couple days. No matter how I prep, even being careful at the cuticle line, being aware of the oil on my nail beds, even when I last had water on my hands.. everything always lifts or pops off completely within a few days. Any suggestions for what I can do? Simple nail polish lasts longer on me but it still chips within 3-4 days and I like the thickness the other options offer.
@MarlaKrisАй бұрын
Hmm, ok let’s start with what you’ve done so far. Can you walk me through the prep you’ve tried and give me some insight about your nails? Thin, weak, long etc and the shape?
@jaimerichard729Ай бұрын
@@MarlaKris my nails are pretty thin and still at times can be weak but I’ve spent a couple years trying to really get them healthy and they have come a long way! They will finally grow past my skin without peeling, breaking or tearing but sometimes I will get one that forms a slight crack on the side, I think it’s because I’m filing the sides possibly. For prep, I’ve done a few different things and sometimes mix and match what I do trying to find a good method. It can include a slight buff to rough up the nail when I think they can handle it, nail dehydrator, alcohol for cleaning, really concentrating on the cuticle care and clean up is important and I do that every time. I also make sure to wait a while before applying any product or polish to my nails after they’ve been in water since I heard nail beds can swell a bit and then retract once dry. Sometimes I’ll even apply a dehydrator a couple times and it still doesn’t matter
@MarlaKrisАй бұрын
@ ok that’s super helpful! I have a couple things for you to try - this is gonna be trial and error style so don’t give up! We will figure this out together 1- avoid water for at least an hour before you prep and apply. You can wash up after you’re done with your manicure 2- continue with your gentle buff (just remove the shine) and cuticle work. Focus on where you notice the lifting first. 3- instead of using alcohol to dehydrate, use 100% acetone 4- ONLY if you’re using gel (don’t use this if you’re doing dip with dip liquids) use a primer in between dehydrating and gel base. I like the young nails protein bond. 2 coats let dry in between. 5- cap the edge of your nail if you can with your cop coat at least. Every coat is better.
@jaimerichard729Ай бұрын
@@MarlaKris thank you! I will definitely try using acetone in place of alcohol and will use a primer. I cap the free edge when doing gel but I haven’t used primer so I’ll grab some and give that a shot!

@alixhice what you wrote brought tears to my eyes. I often feel that people on the other side of the aisle just hate us on the other side and want us dead. Or at least to leave the country. I've never felt that way about anyone else no matter their views and to have people who are my "friends" say such terrible things to me because we have differing political views has broke my heart on so many occasions. You give me hope. Thank you. ❤

I’ve been, honestly, weirdly numb since the election. I wish I were surprised at the result, but deep down I’m not. I’m resigned, I think. So I’m going to do everything I can to hold the line for the folks who are in danger and just… see how bad the cleanup is in 4 years. GAD, social anxiety, undiagnosed but likely ADHD, and perimenopause here too. It is a nasty soup of brain and body chemicals to deal with. And I’m still figuring out HOW with most of it. :)
