I married a man who was truly perfect on paper and respected in both his professional and private life. Kind, easy going but a bit detached with only an animated surface level of communication. After five years of emotional neglect, dismissal and questioning I ended things. Friends/family thought I was crazy. I felt no need to explain or defend myself. Life truly is short and you’re so correct about internal peace.

You are absolutely correct in that abuse isn’t just physical. There’s a member of my husband’s family that wanted to have an argument with me and wanted to bad mouth me. She literally lied just to have an excuse to attack me. Ignoring all my comments about “this literally isn’t real” and I know she told the lie to her immediate family. The entire family is abusive and I just didn’t grasp the warning signs before I married into it. I should have noticed the fact that they all think dishonesty is a joke and not a serious issue. I can’t handle the dishonesty. So I simply avoid them as much as possible. I’m glad you recognized the signs and got out of the relationship.

You are absolutely NOT the ass***e! As someone who has been through a few different abusive relationships in her life. I myself am 42. Once I got up the nerve to leave the abuse behind and find my self worth again, I was single for about 4 years. Planning on staying that way for the remainder of my life LoL I was content with my cats and my kids (who are all adults 😂) Anywho, those 4 years were AMAZING! So much growing and self realization. It was needed to be who I am today. Then 1 day my high school sweetheart, the 1 that got away slid on in to the DM’s going on 5 years now, stronger than ever. You are an amazingly beautiful soul of a human being. Who is a wizard at all things nail related. Thank you for that. Also, thank you for opening up that door and discussing such a taboo subject. It seems to me you really dodged the bullet, it took me a long time to learn to trust my instincts when it came to men who were not good for me. I have been relationship-free for about 15 years now, and at 68, I have no desire to answer to anyone about what I'm doing with my time, money, etc. I'm no longer willing to settle, and I'm perfectly happy to be independent. As someone who has been married for over 45 (long, hard) years (that is my husband's humour), every successful relationship needs to have trust and respect between the participants. Diane is a very insightful woman. She is lucky that the relationship has been terminated before the walk down the aisle. I just did Buffalo plaid nails Monday! It sounds like you did the right thing❤ in my first marriage I was lonelier than being single. He would always be with his boys and never spent time with our girls. He didn’t want me til someone else did if that makes sense. We were roommates, we had separate checking accounts and had our own lives. I knew I didn’t want my girls In a marriage like that so I left. So yes emotionally neglected Is a thing. Ok - I haven’t tried this yet BUT I hear that you can apply the tabs, install the press ons, then hit it with a blow dryer and really press them down. Apparently, that makes them more stable and last longer

Yes he very well could b a narraccist I just left my ex and had him arrested for dv he started yelling at me in front of my 4yr old autistic daughter and my 14 yr old son and went I. My nail room smashed up my stuff he was always doing that to me breaking my stuff!! So I finally called the cops and he was arrested and I was able to take my daughter and take my things and finally leave!! I wanted to leave him and I was gonna do it one day while he was at work!! Which I would have had to leave behind alot of things!! But I was able to take my time cuz he wasn't allowed to come back to our apt and I m9ved in with my mom I'm so much happier already and everything is working out 4 me so I'm happy!!! It's the 1st time 8n 4yrs that I've been happy in along time!! So good 4 u marla I'm happy 4 u!! Good for u for standing up 4 urself I finally did it and I was proud of myself to!!

What can I say that hasn't already been said??? Not much really, but... 😂😂 As a 64 year old divorced woman, who's been single for 14 years now, I'm most grateful for my peace. After 22 years of a disrespectful marriage, a deceased child and one finally the age of 18, i decided it was time to walk away. Was there immediate peace?? No, no, it took several years to get there. But, I have finally accepted that I would much rather be alone than to live without my hard earned peace. My take away from Jack and Diane: 1. Absolutely grateful that Diane was able to unmask the real Jack for the "tricker" he is before her Halloween date!! 2. Grateful that Diane has become a strong, confident, independent, self-sufficient woman that is able to recognize the red flags and use her gained strength to choose mind over matter! (peace over emotions) So many times, we as women let emotions rule our world and we have got to be stronger!!💪💪 3. And lastly, when a man lowers himself beyond threats to try and involve a woman's children in his charade, He is NO MAN, he is one top level AH, piece of 💩. You can try and mess with me but don't you dare touch my babies!!!! That will be Jack's last mistake in my world!! So in the end, this weirdo family that you have created, is standing behind Diane, full force, 100%, because you have created and built trust within this family!! You don't play games with this family. You have demonstrated honesty, loyalty, acceptance, generosity, asking for nothing in return (except a "like" or "follow"). 😂 So glad your Halloween ended with treats and not trickery!😊 Thank you for trusting us, your weirdo mani fam, with "Jack and Diane's" story. Thank you for allowing us to lift you up for a change! My only disappointment at this point... Diane is NOT the a-hole! Could you imagine if Diane did marry him with the control and manipulation he started before the wedding!!! 'Dianne' did the right thing by getting out. 'Jack' is such a cheap and tacky AH; he was clearly trying to use money as a way to control Dianne (paying for everything so she would feel indebted to him), and when that back fires he tries to demand all the money he's ever spent on the relationship in ANY form; what a baby. Red flags everywhere 🚩When you get that little twitch in your stomach that something is not right, but give them another chance anyway. That was me in first marriage. Growing up in a DV household, I thought that this was the norm but was always scared to set my dad off, and eventually my husband. 10 years with him & two children under the age of 5, I didn’t want my kids growing up thinking that this behaviour was normal or to be tolerated. Just a little ditty ehh! I think that anyone who is not head over heals 💯 in love and sure that the person is the one, should not get married. I don't believe in cold feet. I have married twice and had never divorced (widowed). I have never been unsure about them. Not for a second. If Diane felt Jack wasn't it then she made the right decision. When kids are involved it's even more critical not to marry someone unless they are it. I was single for 12 years and was a ok that way. Till I met my now husband and my kid said I want him to be my Dad. That confirmed that he was the guy. Who cares what anyone else thinks anyway. If your kids think you did the right thing then you did. No one else's opinion matters imo anyway. Bet of luck to Diane and Jack, get a life and leave them alone. Oh, Honey, I'm so glad you ended that. It was totally an unhealthy relationship, and he's definitely the Asshole. All of these tenancies would have increased after the wedding and may have become physical. His actions after you ended it are ridiculous. I'm so sorry you are going through this, but very glad you ended it. Do you feel safe? I didn't have a good feeling about him from the beginning, but I couldn't have articulated why. @@lorriangus something about it always seemed sus to me as well, always was on high anxiety. But ya know how we do - we explain everything away and chalk it up to “I’m overthinking it”. He’s blocked. I’ve had no contact with him since halloween (he did text me that night to guilt me) And it should stay that way bc I’m not unblocking him. Ever. I’m not wasting any more energy on him so being fearful isn’t in the cards. I’m just living life happily! And have another fun life update coming soon! Love you, sweetness ❤️❤️
