I had no idea you were covering this, but this has always stood out as an incredibly beautiful and impactful song. It hit me hard when I first heard Galen sing it in concert and hearing him talk about his own experiences working with kids who struggle and the challenges they faced. I think you did justice to it. Thank you Flitterkriz, IMShadow007, BlueBrony and Goony for this incredibly beautiful rendition of this song.

I wrote this song, but it's not the end of the story. When the Wonderbolts play this live, we add on Wootmaster's Remix "The Superpower" - a more positive response, and my own "What Went Right" verse which has never been recorded: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4ebqYCDbdCtkLs "They told me I was different, told me I was dumb Told me I would never matter anything to anyone Like a foal I once believed them, but now I know the truth Through all of these things, I still mattered to YOU" YOU MATTER. Anyone who calls you different (and means something negative) or dumb - whether it's from inside you or from outside you - is a liar.

It's absolutely amazing to me how the concept of "being different", "the odd one out", "the one with a disability" is considered. We are ALL different, and each of us are good at some things and suck at other things, which makes us all "disabled" at something. Don't take me wrong, I'm in no way diminishing health disability, specially as I actually have medical health disabilities myself, but still, that makes me weak in certain areas, but strong in other ones. This song touches a deep scar/pain/sensitive issue, as the bullying for being "different" inside a group can change/ affect someone's life so much. When you guys use the MLP to present those issues, it makes it so much more meaningful and reachable to a much bigger audience. I am so grateful for MLP, and for this channel, as music is one of the most powerful languages to really communicate things that words only sometimes can't. I'm not sure I can express exactly what I want with my words but you can with your music so... thank you! 🥰

I shed a tear listening relating to my struggles with adhd and autism, having been the kid teachers would ignore because i needed more help than most due to my difficulty understanding speech and talking and the things people would say behind my back about how i look the right hand side of my face being slightly paralysed from an accident, throughout the years ive definetly found people are much more accepting and accomodating now and its really nice seeing the change and support especially as now in my final year of education im doing decently well having found what im good at and enjoying my time there arguably more than i do at home, a world away from 6 years ago when i would sometimes be purposefully late to lessons so's to get lunchtime detentions just so i wouldnt have to be around other students , love the song and well done to everyone involved in making it! :)

I'm sorry you were bullied! Our society doesn't know what to do with neurodiverse people in many cases, but I think in many ways we have a gift - an ability to see the world from a different perspective. It can be hard to communicate with neurotypical people but we still have something important to give to the world, and without it, the world and humanity would be less than it is. I like how some of the lyrics such as, “you’re eyes don’t focus” stop there but the beat keeps going as if there’s supposed to be more than that. It shows how shallow people can be and shun others for something so simple and something so trivial.

Hey Steff. I'm glad to see your channel and that you're still making music. What happened back then is definitely one of my regrets as a member of the band. I didn't know at the time how to create a safe environment for you while maintaining my relationships with the members we already had, and I erred on the side of cowardice. I made the excuse that it was just a personality conflict and that it would work itself out when I should have stood up for you. Fellow teacher. That line "at least she can be quiet" was a line I wrote about something I realized in myself my first year in education. I didn't want myself to have that attitude. It's not easy, and I'm not perfect, but I do my best to try to care for all my students now. Thanks for listening.
@lakeshore76832 жыл бұрын
@@guitarfan01 I appreciate that although you’re not perfect, you still try and be compassionate towards us who struggle with learning disabilities. There’s unfortunately not enough teachers who have an open mindset towards us. For pretty much all my school years, my teachers would ignore or shrug me off whenever I needed help, which has now caused me to be super hesitant when reaching out for help. I remember back in grade 7, I had overheard some of my teachers talking badly about me and my abilities behind my back, yet were thankful that at least I never “acted out” in class. Despite that, I hope possibly sometime in the near future more teachers will become more compassionate and patient when it comes to helping students with learning disabilities, I don’t want anyone else to have to go through anything like this
