First off just want to say I love your channel. You have single handedly made wiring a breeze for me, for the most part. I have recently wired turn signals on my lawnmower and I live it. I get compliments everywhere. Well I have a small 4x6 trailer I pull behind the mower pretty much all the time. I'm in the process of hooking up trailer lights and I want turn signals on the trailer and have a plug that will plug into my mower so that when I turn on whichever blinker on the mower, the trailer turn signal works as well. Could you make a video explaining how i could do this please. One of your biggest fans- Cody

Hey. Just came across your channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3Knaal6fbmVsNE Your negative switched 3 way prong video is awesome. Explained perfect... But there is something else I need per se, or missing. My car is negative switched headlights. I want to install a lightbar WITH led rocker switch in dash. I would like to know the diagram for the following scenario please and thank you. Using the wire BEFORE it hits the car's inbuilt relay. I've scotched onto the highbeam wire under fuse box. (Before its switched) 30 is inline fused to battery 86 is fed from 30. 85 is scotched/spliced onto highbeam wire 87 goes to lightbar How do you add three prong rocker switch so that Turn switch on: highbeam, lightbar, lil led light ON. Turn switch off: lightbar, lil led light OFF Integrated into the negative switched circuit The lightbar can only be turned on IF switch is on AND highbeams are on. But if off at switch. Highbeam still can operate.. Cheers

Great video! Sometimes, I've had continuity but no conductivity! 1 strand of wire can show continuity but may not conduct enough current to light a headlight!

Another video from the goat! I'm actually trying to push your videos to be shown whenever we're discussing anything electrical in my automotive class now, hopefully i can get more people hooked lol In the meantime; what cheap multimeters could you recommend? I had a cheap walmart everstart one that worked perfectly fine for what i needed, but it got left in the rain and then the sun warped it the day after 🤦‍♂don't want to spend a buttload of money, but want something that i can rely on. Thanks a lot for all the effort you put into these videos!

Thanks for watching and spreading the word! I actually don’t have experience with many multimeters, but I know I don’t really like the super cheap red one from HF. I can say that the Fluke meter in this video is absolutely wonderful. I have had it for 20-25 years, and it’s truly an excellent all around meter. They are pricey, but if you can successfully use it and abuse it for 25 years, it feels worth it. It may be worth trying to get a pre-owned one on Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, or eBay. That way you save some bucks, but you know you’re getting a great product. Thanks again for watching!

Thank you for all your wiring instructions. Very helpful in restoring my high school car. Have a question: How do you wire in a switch in a fused relay? Do I need to have a separate wire for power to the switch?

Sorry to hear about your dead car! Hopefully it’s easy to sort out. Generally I find that battery drains are: - really old batteries that don’t hold a charge - alternators that are not working properly - aftermarket things added to the car that aren’t wired right (stereos, lights, chargers, etc) Good luck!

Great video as usual. Although ok for a beginner and a good starting point, continuity, resistance and voltage tests aren't a very reliable way to confirm a circuit or section of wire can actually carry any meaningful current. A wire that is almost completely broken, lets say for instance down to it's very last strand, will still show perfect continuity, low resistance and even voltage readings will look perfect at the either end of that wire. However, try to pass even a small amount of current through that wire and the circuit likely won't operate, or at best poorly. That one strand of wire may simply burn up like a fuse, or at best starve the load of voltage and not provide enough current for the load to operate correctly, as well as heat will be generated in the wire and potentially cause a fire, a similar effect is caused by undersized wire with current flow that is too high for that size of wire etc. The same goes for no load voltage tests on a wire with a corroded or poor connection. The voltage and continuity might look fine until you try to power up the load and current trys to flow, all of a sudden there's no power at the load and/or lots of heat at the corroded or poor connection, the more resistance the more heat and vice versa. When troubleshooting a wiring/circuit problem, the best method for testing good wiring integrity for no open circuits, good connections and the ability of the wiring to carry current, is by doing loaded circuit/circuit energized voltage drop testing on both sides of the circuit and at all the various connection points within the circuit. If you see any substantial voltage readings (more than x milli-volts dependant on current flowing in circuit) on your meter between any two points of the circuit, your problem/circuit fault lies somewhere between those two points. Ideally, a perfect, no voltage loss/voltage drop reading would read 0 volts.👍

Great info! I’ll give some thought into a way to demonstrate this , as it would be some great videos to have!

@@WiringRescue Cheers for the reply and for reading my long-winded comment👍That'd be a great idea to make a video on voltage drop circuit integrity testing. Try to make a big emphasis around 'Always do loaded circuit tests' 'No current flow = No voltage drop. ie: unless the circuit is loaded and current is flowing, you will never be able to measure the voltage drop within a circuit. If necessary, when trying to test a part of a circuit or length of wire etc, use the object being powered as the load, or introduce a substitute load, preferably a test light that draws at least a few hundred mA, and for higher current circuits a headlamp bulb is good for 3-4A. I'm sure you will do an excellent job like you always do, I'll look forward to it😁 Your videos are very good, always clear, to the point, simply presented, educational and easy to understand, especially for the newbies. Thank-you for all your great videos, I can see the time and effort they must take you to make👍

Could you make a headlight knob using a rotary switch? I think a knob with off, parking, drl, low, and high would look really interesting. similar to european style headlight knobs but more simple.

Can you wire up the blower motor to start working with the key in the accessory possition? Since keeping the car in the on position for a long time isnt very good instead you just want the heater to work and nothing else. Like is it very easy and you just need to add a wire or is there more steps?

You keep using the diagnostic term, continuity, when you're referring to resistance. This is a newbie video, & people can get confused between the two terms; as the multimeter also has a dedicated continuity mode. You should have clearly stated what you were referring to, at the start.
