The new headquarters for the German Intelligence Service in Berlin, officially opened in 2019, is the second largest building in Berlin, four times the size of the Federal Chancellery. With 14,000 darkened and tap-proof windows. The architecture of the BND building was criticized from the start.
Where and in what surroundings is the new BND headquarters located? How does the building look? Is it imposing, colossal, monumental or megalomaniac? Did it succeed or was it a disaster? Is it appropriate for the BND? Does it fit into its environment? What do critics and supporters write about the new building of the BND? What is the poetry of the building?
I try to answer these questions on this city tour in the series "Berlin explained".
I am really looking forward to the comments!
I also address Daniel Libeskind's Sapphire in this Berlin video. The eye-catching building is directly opposite the main entrance of the BND.
And at the end of the video, I'll go into the history of the area.
Thank you for the support with comments, likes, recommendations and a subscription!
