Hey, I would have suggested you take a look at the JVC DLA projectors. I nearly crapped myself after seeing the black levels of that projector (bought the x790r). not even kidding you that when comparing the black levels to an LED-LCD your may pick the black levels of the projector as being blacker as JVC makes the darkest black levels of any projector much better than even sony. I don't even have a blacked out room (bright colors on floor ceiling and walls). once I bought this and built some high end speakers I have been watching 10x the amount of tv shows and movies. its so life like now, much better quality than a movie theater. Only downside is the cost of piecing this together with some near gear and some used gear the price is still around $12,500. even at half off used the projector still cost $3,000. but man oh man once you see and hear the quality you cant go back. PS, dual 24 inch custom subwoofers can be to much if you listen loud on a Godzilla movie.

Hey man, A lot of the bigger KZbin channels gloss over a lot of practicality so I really liked how you mentioned things like the height of the projector for screen and maybe needing to change your media unit height etc. This is the stuff that matters to most of us who do not have money to burn. When we decide on a big purchase it's those things that actually matter and what you are looking for. Knowing the spec and how good the projector is is only 1/4 of what I feel is the whole process. Setup, changes and what you need to do to your home and setup, configuration and day to day use are far more important. I would like to see more on this and I liked your video here for those elements. THANKS!

I have the same setup except I have the 120 in Elite screens CLR. The other ALR screens that I could find were much more expensive. I totally agree that the bigger screen size is much more immersive than a 65-70 in TV and a reasonable tradeoff for picture quality. Having said that I find the image in a darkened room is stunning, and in a well lit room is still excellent especially for sports. I played around with some calibration settings on some of the forums and it helps with color accuracy. I look forward to your in depth testing.

Congratulations on your projector. The large screen makes even ordinary content spectacular. You'll enjoy rediscovering your games and movie collection with the scale of the projected image -- also, there's simply a wow aesthetic (beyond simply being bigger) that's unique to a projected picture.

I complety agree. Great video and very detailed. I really wish I knew some of this stuff before I bought my optoma. As others have mentioned, no other videos really talks about the how low the stand needs to be depending on the screen size. Add to the fact that there is an offset for each unit and DLP has no pixel shift, no two units are going to be the same in regards to where the bottom of the image is from the stand it's sitting on. This doesn't seem to be discussed much at all so anyone thinking about UST should be aware of this. The offset makes a huge difference for UST at where the bottom of the picture will be. I ended up getting the optima p1 and for a 100 inch screen there is a three inch difference of where the bottom of the picture is. For a 100 inch screen the minimum of 14 inches (no offset) to 17 inches (max offset) from the stand the projector is on depending on the unit. The LG has a much lower offset than the Optima. The main reason the LG projector is more expensive than other UST projectors is it has no color wheel. It uses a 3 Channel Laser with Wheel-less Tech The HU85LA uses RGB separate primary colors. All others are dual Lazer with color wheels. Color wheels for DLP have the highest failure rate which is try for any moving parts. The other is probably software. Optoma built in apps are limited to 480p and there are some glitches when changing picture settings. An external source is absolutely needed. I'm amazed at my optoma p1 paired with a 100 inch Grandview Dynamique. Grandview is the only middle ground between higher end models like Screen Innovations and the Da- lite UST screens that can resolve 4k pixels. The Elite is only rated for 1080p and tests have proven that so better sharpness on a screen that can resolve 4k pixels. Pretty good deal at projectorscreen .com (no affiliation) right now.. Even though both the LG and optoma are faux 4k projectors using pixel shifting to achieve 4k, I wouldn't buy a 4k TV that can't resolve 4k pixels. I would love to see a comparison of the Elite vs the Grandview but from what I've read Grandview is every bit as good as SI and Da-lite. Screens. They are just terrible at marketing and promotion but that results in lower costs. Screens also last longer than projectors so my next UST PJ will be true 4k as I'm not going back to standard throw. Only UST pj that is true 4k is 25k. I used a Stewart Firehawk for eleven years for standard throw before getting the Grandview. I do wish I had the skills/tools to build my own stand. They sell some cabinets specifically for UST projectors but they are insanely expensive.

Very well spoken and you cover everything. The 88" LG Oled was $59,000 recently and that still doesn't get to 120" for the cinematic experience as you say. So Laser projectors seem to filling that void.

They won't. MicroLED will take over. Highly modular and will do 100+ inches easily while retaining image quality of the best TV's. Projectors are all aboug size, image quality is bad. For gaming they are a complete disaster too. There's sooo many cons about projector, which is why it's a niche market.

Hey, my friend.. I love your 4k videos and you're a plethora of knowledge. I currently own a Sony 55es long throw projector that shoots onto my vutec 120 inch screen. My projector is going on 5yrs old and my screen is almost 8 yrs old. I was injured a loooooongg time ago in a car accident which left me with a severed spinal cord. I'm a quadriplegic but I'm still enjoying life thanks to home theater and gaming. 😝😝 Like you I'm 6'4 and was to be drafted via baseball back in the day. Anyway, I digress. I'm 55 yrs old now and I have this dedicated home theater in my basement. Using klipsch premier speakers, I have a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos sound system which I thoroughly enjoy! I have a Denon AVR-x4200w receiver to power it all. I feel like it's time to upgrade to a laser projector. I short throw laser projector wouldn't be practical as my center ch rests right under the bottom of my screen which is about 16 inches off the ground. I want to replace my receiver, screen and projector. I love my Klipsch speakers. I just saw LG's new au810p front throw dual laser projector with over 2,700 lumens and excellent HDR with pop they say and tone mapping. They say you can get great black levels by adjusting this projector and it's only $3,000. I hate to go with a Sony 325es at $5,500. I'll need a screen too that's 120 inches. I really want to know your opinion. I also have a Sony 65in edge lit x930e which is over 4yrs old. I was fortunate to get an Xbox series X and it's time to upgrade due to the 120hz , Vrr, etc. You know what I'm talking about. I'm seriously considering the LG C1 77inch as it has everything I need for gaming. I've never had an OLED before but I'm trying not to worry about burn in. I will use my tv for gaming maybe an 1 to 2 hours a day if you averages it out. Can't be too crazy as I'm limited due to my injury. I also see Sony has their A80J but they're lacking some of the gaming features I'll need. The downstairs theater is so important to me and I love the idea of not worrying about bulb replacement but I do want to see star wars with a nice dark sky and I'd love to watch Batman v Superman director's cut with very nice black levels. Please, I need your help!!!!👍👍😂😊😊 I love your videos and please keep up the great work!! Pss One more thing. Digital trends just did a review of the 8k r648 75 inch by TCL and WOW were they surprised at the black levels it produced. It even had a thx optimizer for gaming. Funny how a very good tv can come in this late in the game. It wasn't the 65 in variant as that didn't get great reviews but completely different when talking about the 8k. I guess it's one way if you don't want to purchase an OLED. Thanks very much for your time. Nick

Salute on the good review. Keep up the good work. Just doing research for my new living room tv project. It will either go over the fireplace (that we don't use here in San Antonio) or on the huge wall space we have. I'm definitely interested on OLED or this particular ultra short throw projector. Wife right now is in the care/but not care phase so in the mean time, I'll just keep saving up the money lol.

Great video! Can you also make a comparaison video between the OLED TV and the Projector image quality? I would really love to see that! ^.^

OLED is much better, espeially in daytime but also in nighttime. A projector will never be as good. Laser or not. You pay for SIZE over QUALITY.
