[4K] Matterhorn Bobsled Ride - We Got DRENCHED! - Disneyland 2017

[4K] We got SOAKED while riding Matterhorn on the Tomorrowland side at Disneyland. This is our first time to ever get extremely wet more than Splash Mountain. We notice that only one of the bobsled vehicles is causing it, while others didn't get wet.

Have you guys ever gotten wet while riding Matterhorn? We have ridden it many times before without getting wet, so this was a first for us.

SoCal Attractions 360 Yes! My jeans and shirt were drenched once, and I was in the 2nd car! Probably the only one time when I got wet on that ride when the new one seat vehicles were implemented. I guess it only happens if you're going at a fast enough speed, I thought it was from the placement of people, changing the weight distribution.

didn't they change it recently? I went like a month ago and it was closed for construction so maybe adding more water was something they changed?

They increased the water level at the end for the splashdown. Disney does this when it's usually a hot day, they do it for their rapid rides as well

I don't think they increase the water level because the last 2 bobsleds after us didn't get wet a single bit. Did you see how green the water is? I wouldn't want to get wet with that murky dyed looking water. I think there's something wrong with one of the bobsleds where one of them is a lot lower than the others.

SoCal Attractions 360 you could be right, maybe you caught a bobsled where it's a tad lower in the front which caused the splash. Although I rewatched your other Matterhorn videos and the water doesn't completely cover the entire track like it does here. Then again the water here looks like they put a lot of extra dye in, which could also explain why you can't see the track so clear. Either way, I feel like this makes the ride more interesting, they might just have to add a "you will get wet on this attraction" sign ;)

Yoshi Star Yes they do it on Pirates, Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run, depending on what season it is

There was no need for Disney to add a fast pass system to Matterhorn, I've stood in that line plenty of times and it moved a lot faster than what the time says it is.... Great. Now you definitely have to get fast passes because the standby will never move.

I was there today, and YES! The ride was running lit AF speeds - BUT IT WAS FUN! Line was about 30-40mins today, and it seemed darker as well. I didn't get wet but one of my friends did. Single Rider All the way!

The water level could have been higher for a number of reasons. One of them being that the water is used as a break system and maybe the ride was moving faster than normal. Or maybe they just wanted to surprise people with some extra water.

Just went on this last week and honestly, it was a lot faster. Me and my girlfriend were both surprised. We go to Disney almost every weekend. This time the ride took off. Was really fun. Only thing is you can feel every single bump because of the speed. None the less, it's awesome.

Yeah it does that! I just came back from Disneyland yesterday and I brought a portable speedometer that I would take to measure the rides. As for the Matterhorn, it has it's up and down days when it comes to speed (in relation to the weight of the bobsled, the wear and tear of the bobsled, etc.). Like you though, my ride yesterday was flying and I seriously had hair flying towards the back. Funny enough, sources say Matterhorn tops out at 27, my speedometer caught 33 as its top speed and 26 average for the whole ride once we got to the top. I can't say its official, but this thing has got accurate results with Space Mountain and Thunder (32 & 35mph). Depends on the car and riders I suppose, but glad I caught it on a fast ride!

Last time I was at Disneyland I got soaked on the Matterhorn too! I've been on that ride hundreds of times and this was the first and only time I got wet.

haha ya, ive gotten soaked on that ride so many times XD The worst soaking i could remember was when i had to sit around for 10 minutes wringing out my hat and shaking out like a puddle of water off of my camera :P

My dad and I boarded this ride last Tuesday at the beginning of May 2017. My mom was unable to board it with us, because she got a terrible back spasm when she joined us last time. Harold is brand new now and he's more hideous as planned.

The water level does look a tad higher than usual, but I would say it must be due to the individual bobsled. Maybe it was the speed or the angle. If it was the water, the other bobsleds would have the same reaction from the impact

Yeah, the water is high. You can usually see the undulation in the tracks where it dips in to the water and rises up. Not here; almost the whole length is under the water.

The thing im curious about is why do the coaster never race anymore? i havent found any good reason for why. ive been to disney a bunch of times, but in recent years the coasters never go down the track at same time like they used to way back when i was a kid!

We went to Disney on 11/7/17 and my father and I rode this ride at around 7:30pm, we also rode on the Tomorrowland side and got drenched during the splashdown. We just thought that since it was dark out that maybe the tide was stronger, which I guess isn't right lol

Was it a lot jerkier than it was previously (When the renovated it before the very recent reno), or is it still the same? Last time I rode it, I had the work stomach ache and it took my father ages to get pills from the hotel room.. I then had a sprite (closest thing to gingerale), and bought some ears (I think mother felt bad XD)

This happened to me once too! Got completely drenched, and when we got off the bobsled the cast members looked at us like we had purposefully dumped water on ourselves or something! No one else got even a drop of water on them.

Totally due to high water level in combination with the lower cone of the new train design. Usually the second hump is more visible in the pool.

Looks like they slowed Down the. Fantasy land side but speed up the Tomorrowland side with the new bobsleds .Its always been faster on the Tomorrowland side but the New bobsleds on the fantasy land side seems extremely slow

I did not see this ride st Disney land Paris I think this ride is at Disneyland in Florida I went on pirates and the Indiana Jones Train ride. Did the buzz light year blast ride in 2008 but that’s closed now and flying dumbo another ride closed and thunder boats. Plus these are other rides I rode when I went as a 17 year old Phantom Manor. Autopia. Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. Casey Jr, Circus Train. Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Thunder Mesa Riverboats. Fairytale Country. Crush's Coaster Studio tram tour These are now closed shame I liked them (rip)

O.K. That happened to me many years ago on this ride... for some reason the cart was moving really fast and the ride ended with a BIG SPLASH. They hydraulically moved the train car off the tracks, I ,along with other Disney guest, had to stay seated in the cart for about fifteen minutes; has the cast tried to figure out what went wrong!!! They accused me and people I did not know of sabotage! Finally moved the cart back and let all of us off the ride. The lady with two girls that where in the back car where drenched. I never have seen anything like that before from this ride.
